We tried to teach our son about consent from the beginning. When he was a toddler and I would tickle him, if he said stop. I would. “You said ‘stop’ so I stopped. When someone says stop, you stop.” And I continued to do that with anything, and try to reinforce it. I hope it’s something he remembers.
