nominating Zuckerbaby (1985) for movie lighting hall of fame, one of the best looking movies I've ever seen

an indoor swimming pool with light tiles lit entirely in a color-blasting green

an apartment interior half lit in fluorescent pink and the other lit in bright green

the main character sits in the same apartment lit in pink in a ruched pink dress, holding a green clock

the same main character laying on her bed with her feet hanging off the edge, wearing high heels. her bed is dressed in pink silks, and the light moves from green to blue to throbbing pink and red.

This person's review for Jethica (2022) (a really under-recognized and quite good movie) has permanently altered how i speak. any time i root for a character i shouldn't be rooting for I think "your heart will soar for [a serial killer, girl stalker (stalker who is a girl), etc]"

A ★★★★ review of Jethica (2022)

This was deeply moving. Your heart will soar for a ghost stalker too <3

it was amazing! so thoughtful too, a little melancholy but not overdramatic/overblown, your heart will soar for a girl stalker (stalker who is a girl)

Here is one simple thing you can do for Indigenous People's Day: Call your representatives in Congress and tell them it is important to vote yes to recognize the Lipan Apache.

This is so hard as a Kwaidan fan... But let's see... The Visitor (1979) aka Stridulum, which also has (for my money) the best evil/possessed child performance in all of horror cinema. (images from TMDB and IMDB) might post a few more below

two robed figures standing facing one another a small distance apart, with a large plume of sand and a heady red sun in a purple sky.

a greenroom interior flanked with large tropical plants, filled with bald, pale-skinned children in identical outfits on various white couches, surrounding a man in the same outfit with a blond beard and long wavy blond hair

a young girl in a red top and light denim pants stands in a circle of shattered funhouse mirrors.

the same girl in a bright light with her hair rising into the air from static, face obscured.

I’m so serious when I say y’all have to stop treating amab nonbinary people like men. & I mean the people who already respect afab nonbinary folks. Do you know how many amab enbies tell me I’m the 1st person to see & respect them? What are we doing? I’m happy to help, but the bar is on the ground

A dear friend passed away suddenly. Tai was one of the kindest people I've ever met: when we became friends, it was like he knew me my entire life. I feel indebted to his friendship. His family needs help with the funeral costs -- please give a little if you can. www.gofundme.com/f/in-loving-...

now that I'm back into loving movies for me, I'm filling in that missing decade. nowadays i watch more movies in 2 months than I had in the 5 years after that happened to me. i'm sad about the lost time, but i'm not mad at myself for retreating to heal, i'm mad at him for taking advantage of me.

i stopped being able to love slashers, the movie playing when it happened was "Castle Freak". Watching "Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma" re-opened the gates for me to love slashers again, to find them funny and entertaining again rather than going away in my mind, rather than feeling numb.

the jacob gellar stuff and the cornell stuff has been pretty rough on me mentally in combination. it's miserable thinking that I lost one of my greatest passions and hobbies because someone took advantage of me, someone who probably never looked back or cared or lost his love for anything.

ever since i started my letterboxd i puzzled over the sudden dip in movies I'd seen starting in 2010 and lasting until 2020 when I picked up movies during the pandemic. it took until a couple of months ago to remember oh yeah, it's because i was raped while watching a movie with a college friend.
