It should be illegal for a phone manufacturer to push a software update that also installs completely meaningless apps on your phone. This is probably the 20th time I've had to uninstall a random Mahjong game and Pintrest from my phone, despite having never installed either of those myself.

there is no such thing as "age verification." All "age verification" is actually "identity verification." You can coat it in glitter and "privacy-preserving" wrapping paper. But in the end, mandating age verification means mandating surveillance be built into software and hardware. Period.
