Linus in Memoriam #7 Linus loved to play jungle-cat in the summer, but mostly that entailed sleeping under bamboo and ferns

Linus In Memoriam #6 Linus was a master of space. In particular, his ability, for such an average-sized cat, to be able to take up the surface area of a large adult human on a bed, was second-to-none.

Linus in Memoriam #5 One year ago. Linus decided his new favorite spot was on or near the compost bin. Maybe it was putting off heat from all the decay?

Linus In Memoriam #4 Occasionally one would come across Linus standing like this on the dining room table, staring out the window either utterly blank, or lost in thought. He wouldn’t move for several minutes. I think of it as his “Jack Torrance” pose.

Linus In Memoriam #3 In recent months Linus enjoyed sunning himself on my roommate’s filthy car. It retained heat fairly well, and gave him a vantage point to keep an eye on the goings-on in the cul-de-sac, always a chief concern.

Linus In Memoriam #2 Linus had a thing for hoses. More than once I would come upon him cuddling with (or attacking) the garden hose. It was especially enticing if there was water running through it, which to Linus seemed to simulate life.

Linus In Memoriam #1 These were two of Linus’s primary states: Smug and Sleepy

Today we say goodbye to our sweet Linus. I’ll post some remembrances in the near future but for now I’m too wrecked.

I yelped out loud when I saw his transformation in the first Part of The Return. It couldn’t be a more perfect place for a “legacy” character to end up.

Senator Jon Ossoff neatly breaks down political corruption in America — and how Trump’s “Mar-a-Lago mafia” has exploited it. Every single Democrat should be saying this.

I’m pretty “woke” and feel a sensitivity to marginalized groups, but this is dumb beyond parody 😳

I might have decimated my credit score with the Criterion Flash Sale, but that Wes Anderson box set is *fancy.* also got His Girl Friday, Tati’s Playtime, Coen’s The Man Who Wasn’t There, and Pandora’s Box, with the great Louise Brooks.

I’ve been enjoying Kat’s attack ads on herself. Brings back cozy memories of watching bad true crime series from the 2010s. Such delicious Grit Filters™️!

This past year has made me pretty cynical, but even so, I feel very good about Kat’s chance to win. This crap indicates that many powerful forces are running scared. Keep up the good fight!

"I learned that just beneath the surface there's another world... I knew it as a kid, but I couldn't find the proof. It was just a kind of feeling. There is goodness in blue skies and flowers, but another force... a wild pain and decay... also accompanies everything." -David Lynch

I’ve been inside that house, and nothing prepares you for the moment you turn the corner and gaze up at the ceiling fan. Everything: the stairs, the hallway, the fan itself is just as it was in the show.
