Cai’s path is down. I liked Theodora’s path more but I still liked Cai’s story and his crew has some my favorite supports that I’ve seen so far. I’ve just started Leda’s path, one of her party members starts with gauntlets so I’m already having a good time

What exactly is the point of doing a VR version of this game if you aren’t actually in the POV of your player character at all times? Being able to look around freely is also going to ruin some of the more cinematic moments in this game since the camera angles/shots will be off

Finished Theodora’s Part 1 path and started Cai’s. I was surprised by how many of the differences are small but add up to make the characters feel different. Since Theodora is a queen she starts in the Hightown area, but Cai is a country boy so he starts in the Midtown area

I forgot that getting multiple shots at once usually messes with my head the next day and I am now suffering the consequences. I got my Flu and Covid vaccines yesterday and I’ve spent most of my shift either with a headache or overwhelming tiredness. Sometimes both at once!

Fortune’s Weave update: nearing the end of Theodora’s path and the game is mixing up chapter objectives a bit more. Won’t spoil where I am but the most recent story battle had a really unique victory condition that made for a fast-paced battle that kept me on edge

Beat Axiom Verge again last night, then did a randomizer run and beat the game significantly faster. The randomizer is way more fun than I thought it would be, I may end up looking up speedrun strata so I can play on the higher difficulty settings

The Legends of Localization book about Undertale’s Japanese localization has been really interesting so far! A point of (possibly) unintentional comedy is when Mandelin gives examples of characters that use certain pronouns in Japanese, which blindsides me when certain western characters appear

Still been reading various yuri manga at work while it’s been slow. I just finished Convenient Semi-Friend, which was a good read! It was funny seeing Ruka and Sunna’s different thought processes and how their relationship develops. These two panels in particular I feel were very relatable lol

Samus’ Vore Rampage and Kirby’s Truman Show were cool reveals but man what a weak direct otherwise. Most of it was stuff already on other consoles or things they’ve already talked about. The NS2 editions didn’t really interest me either (though it’s neat to see Mythra’s daughter I guess)

Not going to post too much about the Ocarina of Time remake but I will say I’m iffy on the character designs. Both of Link’s main outfits have new additions that I guess make them more detailed but I feel like designs are too visually busy now

Great read, really sums up my frustration with Atlus and how many great characters/plotlines are held back by their inability to actually be progressive. Their excuse for not adding the Yosuke romance to Persona 4 Revival is bizarre and reads more like they didn’t want to write LGBT characters

Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave sounds great according to the previews, but perhaps the strangest gameplay feature is this game’s take on Tea Time from Three Houses. Instead of talking to your units, you are a bird and can only do bird actions in response. Incredible

Nice of the Etrian 2 Untold devs to make Harpuia the easiest stratum boss again, even if she’s still harder than in the OG. Finally at the Heavenly Keep now, this is definitely the longest it’s taken me to get through an Etrian Odyssey game but the end is in sight

Looking at multiple Gamefaqs and Reddit threads to see if I’m doing something wrong in Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold since bosses feel way too tanky. In doing so I learned this useful bit of information, it would have been nice if the game so much as hinted at this (1/4)

Gamefaqs comments explaining the buff and debuff system in Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold:

“buffs are overwritten based on the order they were originally applied in, which also happens to be from top to bottom

it's also important to note that there are diminishing returns on buffs/debuffs in this game; the first buff applies at 100% effectiveness, the second one at 60%, the third at 20%, and fourth and beyond do nothing. This is calculated separately for attack/defense, so for example you can have an attack and a defense buff and they'll both apply at 100%. However, two attack buffs will apply at 100% and 60%, and three attack buffs will apply at 100%, 60%, and 20%

Enemy debuffs are counted as buffs as well, meaning enemy defense debuffs will be diminished if you have a party attack buff”

Etrian Odysssey 2 Untold initial thoughts: - Force skills are much more fun and viable than in the original game - Story mode so far is better than 1 Untold, the characters are more interesting and the new dungeon is fun - Both the new and rearranged songs are incredible (1/3)
