For someone more studied in the economics... AI spin creates an appearance of growth, but amid rampant inflation. So is AI actually producing any verifiable productivity growth, or is it just stocks ballooning in price as the dollar loses value? My impression has been that it's the latter.

I use 2.5 bottles of insulin per month, insurance refuses to cover it, so I buy without insurance. They only price it fairly as settlement from a price-gouging lawsuit, and so refuse to sell more than a 30-day supply. So they'll only refill my prescription every 25 days. US healthcare is stupid.

The MCU's Eternals made a mistake in hewing too closely to the source material from the comics; namely by introducing major new heroes and a vast, world changing story that is then ignored by the rest of the franchise. It's the Marvel way!

My dog is old, has some neurological problems, and has a lot of trouble walking unassisted. Last night, she bolted up, dragged herself over to a pee-pad, and urinated there, instead of on her bed or the carpet. And I just wish I could somehow explain to people how heroic of an effort that was.❤️

The trailer for Children of Blood and Bone looks promising! It's one of those books that I thought looked good, but that I bounced off of just because it was a first person narrative. I've heard nothing but good things about the series, though, AND Amandla Stenburg is in the movie.

The My Adventures With Superman version of Supergirl is a delightful iteration of the character. Her combination of militant intensity, fish-out-of-water awkwardness, and earnest emotional vulnerability is endlessly charming and brilliantly entertaining. Kudos to the writers, artists and performer.

Finally saw the second Mortal Kombat movie. For me, despite it's occasional gore, tonally Mortal Kombat really occupies a space somewhere between He-Man and Big Trouble in Little China. It's at its best when they accept that it's a bit goofy -- earnestness is their deadliest adversary.

I've enjoyed the Enola Holmes movies, but I think this latest breaks the 4th wall just a wee bit too often. Enola doing it as narrator makes sense, but having most of the cast winking at the audience at some point or other just isn't to my taste.
