DoorDash spent $1.4M trying to stop Zohran Mamdani from becoming mayor. This week's historic $131.5M enforcement action against DoorDash for underpaying NYC delivery workers shows why. Yet another reminder that the only thing that can beat organized money is organized people.

Greatest trick AI leaders have pulled is convincing many people—especially influential people in govt, media, and business—that their software is intelligent, independent, yet never culpable. Humans build it, humans deploy it, but no one bears responsibility for the things that happen when they do.

The youngest person his pager attack killed was 9-year-old Fatima Abdullah, who had just started 4th grade. The pager was on a table when it went off and she picked it up to take to her dad. It exploded in her face and reports said it covered the room in her blood. She wanted to learn English.

2026. Week 0
Guardian column by Adrian Chiles, edited to look like it's from Northwestern quarterback Aidan Chiles.

The headline, unchanged, says: "My big ambition? To have a pint in each of Ireland’s 32 counties."

The subhed, slightly modified, says: "A former patriot is on a mission to visit an American football field in Dublin to boost the flagging industry. I suspect his true motivation is just to have fun, and there’s nothing wrong with that."

The article is filed under the category "Opinion: Pubs" and is dated Sat 29 Aug 2026 12.00 EDT.

The photograph in the article has been replaced with a photograph of Bill Belichick, who appears to be trying and failing to use his fingers to give bunny ears to Jordon Hudson.

We cannot preemptively and "pragmatically" kick our more vulnerable allies off of the plane. The end result will be having to face the fascists later on anyway but with a significantly diminished coalition. www.welcometohellworld.com/dumping-weig...
I will tell you plainly what is happening right now. The fascists are charged up at the moment after the overturning of Roe and hungry to claw back more of our rights. Trans people have long been in their sights. Many in the center and the center left where most Democrats live seem eager to placate them by sacrificing on this issue to focus on more reasonable "every day" "kitchen table" issues under the misguided impression that if they do perhaps it will slow the right down. It will not. And they will not stop at trans people as we've seen with all the attempts to label drag performers and gay and lesbian teachers who simply share their identity with students as pedophile groomers. (More on that in the feature below). After every mass shooting – like the most recent horrific one in Illinois – they spread a rumor that the shooter is trans now.

Who is to say that gay marriage is sacrosanct at this current pace? Clarence Thomas certainly doesn't seem to think so. Do you trust him to do the right thing?

It's easy to forget sometimes but while broad acceptance of same sex couples in America seems like it's been around forever it has not. It's very very new! Same sex marriage wasn't legal in all 50 states until 2015. That was fucking yesterday.

Well, what I always say, "I just want everybody to be treated good." I try not to get into the politics of everything. I try to get into the human element of it. I have some of everybody in my own immediate family and in my circle of employees. I've got transgender people. I've got gays. I've got lesbians. I've got drunks. I've got drug addicts — all within my own family. I know and love them all, and I do not judge.

And I just see how broken-hearted they get over certain things and I know how real they are. I know how important this is to them. That's who they are. They cannot help that any more than I can help being Dolly Parton, you know, the way people know me. If there's something to be judged, that is God's business. But we are all God's children and how we are is who we are.
