"Pipe Yubiwa" cigarette holder ring by Casio (1946). Toshio Kashio, one of the brothers who founded Casio, invented this ring after World War II. The product was in such great demand that they invested the money in the development of the first Casio calculator. Original post

I'm convinced there used to be an ad for sunflower oil that said "an oil so light it wouldn't even stop a watch" where they plopped a big dollop of oil into a watch. Would love to find it, or find out i was hallucinating. In any case a horology-themed video would be much appreciated!

Fuck ChatGPT flyers. The future is broadsheets.
A crowded broadsheet with way too many fonts. It says:
Forget ChatGPT Flyers
Say it with
Broadsheets
Unlimited fonts
Stretch them
Or cram a really long sentence into one line for no good reason
No whitespace
Mix capital and lowercase
Pointing hands
(They're called manicules!)
Don't be left behind
Broadsheets are the future

I was IQ tested when I was a kid and rode that high until Briggs-Myers tests came into vogue and then I reveled in being an INTP and now I recognize that both are basically the nerd equivalents of zodiac signs, but then that's a very Taurus thing to say, isn't it

Also, if you get enough cat hair to make an actual cat-sized ball of it, it makes a far better pet than the original cat.

Being as how Ireland has vast natural reserves of uranium, it's a perfect solution to our energy crisis. Plus, who knows what the cost of an undersea cable is these days....

Pure sophistry, I think. Even if it were true (though I suspect the opposite is truer) the mental gymnastics needed to benefit from it sounds exhausting....

Snagged this from FB. This may make some people uncomfortable but I think it highlights just how far we've come from what's natural, from our relationship to the Earth that sustains us and our beautiful relatives we share it with.

The thing about social media age restrictions is that it treats today’s internet as an inevitability we all just have to deal with. The internet (and the WORLD) wasn’t like this until like four dudes were allowed to own & monetize as much tech real estate as they wanted. Fix THAT problem.

What with WW3 kicking off and the leader of the free world losing his mind, it was difficult to concentrate. No obvious innovations (I'm sure there were many), so it all felt quaint. Four brave people literally pointing iPhones (sorry, Personal Computing Devices) out the window - not impressive.
