Most AI tools are a solution to a problem you have to create first.

...yeah this context window problem in Clade is pretty insane. There's almost no way I used 62% of my 5 hour usage in the span of 4 prompts & a few scheduled items.

For those using Claude, what tasks or projects do you feel are better facilitated in the Desktop app versus in the terminal with Claude Code CLI?

I've been doing it again. Even though I'm seeing everyone iterate & ship fast with AI, I'm still trying to be perfect... trying to make it "just right" before I put anything out there... trying to worry about protecting my ideas or my image. What a fallacy.

Test anxiety... I've been at my laptop since 10am attempting to re-certify for a test prep & exam that should've taken 2-4 hours.

I saw someone say "abolish copyright" because it only benefits the wealthy who can afford the legal disputes & that those with less than have been fine navigating agreements without it, and... I'm curious to hear what others have to say about that.

I used to set goals like "grow my fanbase." here's why that never worked — there's no baseline, no target, no way to know if you're making progress. "increase email list from 50 to 200 by April." that's measurable. baseline (50), target (200), KPI unit (count), deadline (Q2).

Something I didn't fully grasp until I mapped it out — your PRO only handles one type of royalty. performance royalties. that's it.

Email consent. SMS consent. Data processing. Third-party sharing. These are four separate permissions — and most artists are treating them as one or ignoring them entirely (I know I've been guilty of it).

I didn't build The MUSIC OS because I love databases and despise spreadsheets. I built it because I've watched too many talented artists lose money, lose opportunities, and lose collaborators — not because they weren't good enough,

When you use The MUSIC OS, you're not just using what I built. You're also using what Notion built, and what every industry that depends on them is collectively funding. They have all the reason & resources to keep your infrastructure working & up to date.

A messy catalog isn't evidence that you're failing, It's evidence that you've been creating. Disorganization is often the byproduct of productivity. You were too busy creating things to build the structured containers for them. Now it's time to help you get clarity through digital infrastructure.

Sean ⋄ Wildenfree Tech @wildenfree.tech · 02/03/2026
You don't need to organize your entire catalog today. Start with one song. Maintain it daily as a part of your workflow. One entry teaches you the system. Five entries reveal patterns.

Your catalog isn't just music. It's an archaeological dig. Every layer tells you something about who you were, what you built, and what you forgot to finish. The question is whether you have a system for navigating those layers — or just a pile.

Took two weeks off because I was sick. The first thing I checked when I got back wasn't my streams, it was my system. Everything was still organized. Nothing fell through the cracks. That's the whole point.

Sean ⋄ Wildenfree Tech @wildenfree.tech · 27/02/2026
Before I open my email & get distracted, I try to write down the one thing. Not a list. Just the one outcome that would make the day complete. Some days I forget. Some days the one thing changes by noon. That's fine. The practice isn't about perfection. It's about returning to it.

Spreadsheets store data sure, yet relational systems creates meaning from the connections between that data. A spreadsheet can tell you how many songs you have.

Sean ⋄ Wildenfree Tech @wildenfree.tech · 26/02/2026
Not every music artist needs massive systems with 80+ data sources (Some of you all do lol). Some of you though, just need a place to put your music metadata that actually makes sense.

Found out that the Mechanical Licensing Collective handles a completely separate royalty stream from what your PRO collects — mechanical royalties from streaming. Registration is free. Takes about 15 minutes per song. Most indie artists don't know this exists. The money sits in a pool.

Custom Agents are 🥱 for me, but Notion also sneakily shipped deployable coding endpoints as "Workers" today as well. Something I've been asking for since ~2021. They're calling it an "extreme prerelease" so you probably shouldn't use it yet, but this shit is exciting!

I didn't know neighboring rights existed until embarrassingly recently. Turns out there's a whole royalty stream from radio play, TV broadcast, and public performance of your sound recording — separate from the composition royalties your PRO collects. Different rights.

The C-Line (©) protects the composition — the song as written. The P-Line (℗) protects the sound recording — the specific performance and mix. The © names the publisher or songwriter. The ℗ names the master owner — which might be you, your label, or whoever paid for the session. Make sure to get t

Tiny systems beat heroic efforts. You don't need a weekend-long organization sprint. You need 20 minutes today, 20 minutes tomorrow, and the day after that. Consistency compounds. One composition logged per day is 365 entries in a year. That's a catalog with proper metadata. Start where you are,

The messier your past, the more you need a system for your future. You can't go back and fix 2019… but you can make sure that 2026 doesn't become another 2019.

The best time to organize your catalog was before your first release. The second best time is today. As they say, don't let perfect be the enemy of good. Start getting your music metadata organized as soon as possible.

Your ISRC identifies the recording — the specific performance, mix, and master. Your ISWC identifies the composition — the underlying musical work. They're tracked separately because they protect different revenue streams. Your distributor typically assigns your ISRC. Your PRO or handles ISWC.

Labels don't have better music… they just have better filing systems. (I'm only half joking)

End of session habits to build: 1. Name the song (even a working title) 2. List who was in the room 3. Note who contributed what. Takes 2 minutes. Saves hours later. The metadata you skip today becomes the mystery you're solving next year.

You know why I care about this music admin stuff enough to make systems for it? Because I've watched myself, and too many other talented music artists flounder or miss opportunities…

How quickly can you answer this: "How many unreleased songs do you have that are sync-ready?" If it takes more than a minute to even begin to know where to look… yet again that's not a memory problem, that would be a systems problem.

Sean ⋄ Wildenfree Tech @wildenfree.tech · 18/02/2026
The tighter your systems, the freer your creativity. Seems backwards until you try it.

Sean ⋄ Wildenfree Tech @wildenfree.tech · 18/02/2026
Don't take on the mental burden of organizing your whole catalog at once. Just log one song properly. One song. Today. Do that enough times and you will keep the backend of your music business healthy & ready for opportunity.

The problem for indie music admin, visualized: You become the integration layer. Copying, pasting, reconciling. The work should be in connecting the silos. Leveraging what the Agentic era is thrusting upon us, to close the gaps & let it be the integration operator for all our administrative needs

You're not disorganized, you just don't have a proper system yet, one capable of modeling the data in a way that's accurate to your endeavors. There's definitely a difference.

Sincere question… What's the thing that always falls through the cracks for you in your music business? splits? registrations? release schedules? something else? Curious to know what people are actually dealing with.

Sean ⋄ Wildenfree Tech @wildenfree.tech · 17/02/2026
If you've ever said "I know I have that info somewhere" more than twice in a week, that's a systems problem wearing the costume of foggy memory.

Sean ⋄ Wildenfree Tech @wildenfree.tech · 17/02/2026
Unpopular opinion: your catalog management is a creative decision. What you keep track of track is upstream of your success. It shapes what you can do with your music downstream. Infrastructure isn’t separate from the art; it’s the riverbed your artistry flows through.
000
Sean ⋄ Wildenfree Tech @wildenfree.tech · 17/02/2026
Composition ≠ Recording. If your system treats them as the same thing, you're losing context & likely money because of it. Just saying. I've made this mistake before, even blindly reinforced it… and now, I want to help you avoid it.

Sean ⋄ Wildenfree Tech @wildenfree.tech · 16/02/2026
What a lot of music artists don't realize they need, is the connective tissue that helps them orchestrate not just the music, but the business. Compositions → recordings → releases → performance planning → revenue, etc.

Sean ⋄ Wildenfree Tech @wildenfree.tech · 16/02/2026
Real talk, if you're staying independent as a music artist because you want control, you need systems that give you that control. Otherwise you're just independent AND disorganized. Which is the worst of both worlds. Perhaps, what I'm working on could help you.
