In the city of Sahnaya, located in the countryside of Damascus, Syrian Christians are celebrating the fall of Bashar al-Assad. They are chanting, "One, one, one — the Syrian people are one." 💚💚💚💚 Yes we are all together 💚💚

We can't become complacent with these viruses. My quote from the article: "I don’t think we should characterize 2.3.4.4b viruses as intrinsically less pathogenic compared to earlier clades, because we know that one or two mutations can greatly change the pathogenicity profile of these viruses.”

Salabay
"Salabay", a bisaya word that means "jellyfish". It is the name of the young man that this illustration depicts. He is beautiful and trans, and looks to the side. He has sandy toasted skin , and wavy black hair that looks to be green under certain light. He wears earrings of copper fish and blue Turkish glass. He is surrounded by jellyfish of differing aquatic hues, golden fish with glass blue eyes, clouds, and loosely scattered stars.

saw someone say the newest the cure album was the best since disintegration, so i put on some headphones to check it out. unfortunately it’s a middling retreading of earlier work - bloodflowers & disintegration leapt out immediately, & i could probably pick out more on a re-listen. disappointing!

If somebody quite skeets you to dunk or be weird, go to their post and select “Detatch quote” from the drop down menu. This prevents dunks, dogpiles and bad actors from hammering at you for no reason beyond starting shit and is a way to protect yourself

watching Toys, the robin williams movie from the 90s, for the first time in probably 20 years and the production design is incredible. like if wes anderson was having fun instead of strangling the life out of all his stuff

Poster on a pole featuring a large broken clock and the words "MAKE 2024 THE FINAL YEAR: ABOLISH TIME!
Let us be free from the boring drudgery of work and capitalism that Time makes possible. Every clock is a cop. We call for the complete and total abolition of Time itself. We call for a free life unstructured by the inhuman rigidity of Time and the police, prisons, and other methods of control it necessitates.

NO MORE DEAD TIME
ONLY PARTY TIME"

The black quilt in back is by Anna Von Mertens. It’s called “December 29, 1890, Wounded Knee Creek, South Dakota, the Seven Stars of the Big Dipper in the final hour before dawn” I’m going to put her statement about her work in the alt, it’s worth reading
A black rectangular quilt. The hand stitched line work in white and pale colored threads mark the movement of the stars as if this were a long exposure photograph of the night sky.

The artist’s statement about this piece and the collection it’s part of: This body of work takes violent moments in American history that act as pivot points—where what came before feels separate from what follows—and, based on star calculation software, depicts the star rotation pattern above these moments in time. These hand-stitched works have the proportions of a movie screen, intended to suggest a representation of historical events through the distanced lens of observation, but by offering a literal vista they also place the viewer within that moment as witness, onlooker, participant.

The work is intended to act on many levels: as a memorial, as an actual vantage from a specific moment in history, but ultimately I am simply documenting an impassive cycle that is oblivious to the human violence below

i would pay real earth monies for a recording of this song, which i have sadly been unable to locate.
A picture of sheet music cover, there is a heart-shaped planchette pointing to the word “yes” and a stylized woman’s head above with the song title “My Spookie Wookie Ouija Board Girl” in a blue ribbon, beneath. Words and music by J. Cliff. Wilson.

i got my covid booster *and* flu shot yesterday, and requested a longer 1.5 inch needle since i’m over 200 pds - and obvs correlation ≠ causation but today i felt…fine? sore arm but otherwise good? still bewildered that i’ve never had a pharmacist use a bigger needle until i outright asked for one.
