True sovereignty is the ability to make choices. More partners and alliances means more choices. Any time you cooperate you give a little. But you can get a lot. Canada's in the enviable position of being able to deepen relationships and reduce dependency on any single country. hogan.mp/5

Despite Conservative claims, there are not 500 projects “waiting for permits”.  We're building more, we're building faster, and we're doing that while maintaining high environmental and social standards. Making things up is not how you hold government to account.

Canada is deepening our non-U.S. relationships because true sovereignty is the ability to make choices. More markets, more partners, more alliances - and less dependence on any single country - means more options.  My latest 👇

What Pierre Poilievre doesn’t understand about sovereignty
Sovereignty is capacity, not isolation.

Pierre's protesting something not happening. But we won't find sovereignty in autarky. Sovereignty comes from choices. US trade made us prosperous but we need other deep relationships. That gives options - making Canada more resilient, sovereign and free.

Parliament will be back from summer recess soon, so it's a good time to repost this, asking what does an MP do all summer? It's busy, but in a different way. Summer time is filled with work on local and regional projects, constituency meetings, policy work, and neighbourhood visits, plus more.

Happy Alberta Day! Alberta was originally to be created on July 1, 1905 to align with Canada's fiscal year. It was delayed to Sept. because Parliament didn't pass the bill in time. We missed out on Alberta Day being Canada Day but we'll never miss out on Alberta being Canada.

Each day, a billion dollars of goods go through ports in Vancouver. As we expand trade relationships, that number is climbing. Was great hear how to expand the port (and our economy) in environmentally and culturally sensitive ways along with my friend and colleague Wade Grant.

Everyday we are working together to make Canada a better place that works for all of us (see: Alberta-Canada MOU). Albertans are leaders in that work. Separatism talk undermines that. It divides, damages and distracts at a time when we need to be united.

Separatists want you to think the referendum is a cost-free way to pressure for the things Alberta wants. But 8 in 10 Calgary Chamber members already feel the debate's negative effects, and half would be likely to leave if Alberta votes to START the separation process.
