Finally finished the first chapter of Higurashi after taking a break for like 6 months and I am pretty hooked by it. There’s lots of interesting little hooks in the mystery so far and with what happens with the protag at the end idk where the fuck the rest of this is going but I’m along for the ride

On the topic of random vs overworld encounters I tend to fight every enemy I see regardless because that tends to be the exp curve the designers intend for, so effectively the only difference between the systems is the (largely) negative impact overworld encounters have on level design
