some of my students are making advice columns for an assignment — they write often of 'anon' and 'OP' in their responses.

denji did it! he was freed from being the protagonist of the story "chainsaw man", the battle shounen action hero, and in doing so he is now happy. the end of Chainsaw Man is the end of chainsaw man. now he's just some guy enjoying food & working a shit job. and we can get the real hero (power)

The bagel-with-peanut-butter approach is steeped in the liberal fantasy that breakfast will set you free, but in a world where that's no longer true (if it ever was), to me it reads as decadence

being a metaphysician with nonevil politics and being a trans woman is so frustrating because so many people make completely insane assumptions about me. important fact: more formal does not equal more evil (an assumption unfortunately representative on the pro and anti evil sides of the discipline)

i will write a philosophy paper i like, which is *good* in the least restricted meaningful sense (that is, one which is good and not merely good enough), or i will die trying. i am locked in a life or death struggle with Writing A Good Philosophy Paper

hilarious. the only good thing about the rebuilds at all is the ending which seems very strongly to suggest that everything would be better had evangelion never been created. NGE itself is so antithetical in its messaging to what the culture industry has made of it (i.e: massive franchise).

solidarity w/ the people of iran against both an uncaring state that seeks to kill them to protect its own decaying patron-client pyramid scheme and a US genocidal imperialist war machine that seeks to kill them to fuel momentum for the barracks-state israel's genocide of palestine. hands off iran.

one nice thing about grading the first paper of the semester is that you get to learn that some of your really quiet students are still UNDERSTANDERS who write some of the best papers of the bunch

grading first essays in phil101, there are 3 different prompts (very 'argue 1 side or the other' style prompts, so in a sense there are 6) and every single chatgpt paper has been about how the student would not go into the experience machine. like girl what do you mean you value authenticity

Had a dream that there was global panic about the world running out of oxygen, Nintendo was the only video game company to make a statement about it, and the internet collectively spent its final hours on Earth debating whether Nintendo was being genuine or not
A fabricated statement from Nintendo of America's Twitter account addressing a fictitious scenario in which the Earth's oxygen supply is presumed to be depleting at a rapid pace, leaving humanity with mere days to live.

"This is Miyamoto. On behalf of everyone who is employed at Nintendo Co. LTD and its subsidiaries, we deeply mourn the countless human lives which will be lost due to the depletion of the global oxygen supply. To anyone who has ever played one of our games, we are eternally grateful to have created long-lasting fun and memories for you. To ease the suffering of families and children across the world, the Mario Kart World game for the Nintendo Switch 2 system will be available as a free download on Nintendo eShop for the foreseeable future. We hope this small gesture of kindness will ease the pain as humanity prepares for a worst-case scenario."

The statement is distastefully plastered with logos for Nintendo and Nintendo Switch 2, as well as with a render of Mario from Mario Kart World.A fabricated Twitter thread responding to the fabricated Nintendo statement.

John Default Profile Picture: "No one read this statement and thought it was distasteful? Why did Miyamoto think this would help anyone?"

NintenDeen: "Simple: Nintendo is so depraved that they'd exploit a global crisis to boost the player count of the failed Mario Kart World and force consumers back into the Switch 2 ecosystem to boost sales and player numbers."A fabricated Twitter thread responding to the fabricated Nintendo statement.

PlayStation Nation: "What the fuck are you doing falsely advertising sales during these trying times? I went to the website and Mario Kart World is still selling for $80 USD."

Kremling Kevin: "If you actually read the statement, it clearly says the discount is available on Nintendo eShop. Meaning the application on the Switch 2 itself, not the web browser version."

PlayStation Nation: "Point still stands."A fabricated Tweet responding to the fabricated Nintendo statement.

Isaboner: "Nothing for Switch 1 owners?"

In this last regard, Dennett’s role is succinctly expressed: from an esoteric perspective I will suggest this: Daniel Dennett is the Devil. This theme will be elaborated at length in the final sections of the paper, but it is worth bearing in mind throughout.

there's a running thing in six feet under where one of the main characters, david, is always terrified of expressing how he really feels, and this animates all sorts of conflicts with his boyfriend/husband keith which basically terminate in him being reasonable when david does just say how he feels.

i can't say that ive never been angry and felt this way, or even Posted from those feelings, so i intend no judgement to OP. but the government just shouldn't murder anybody. we shouldn't live in a world where that's a sanctioned response to perceived wrongdoing. nobody deserves that

I think about my kid's sign all the time.
A young boy with face blurred out stands on a street corner holding a sign. The sign says "I want everyone to live," with pictures he drew of people with various skin colors with their arms around each other.

we often don't value what we think we value, or what we think we are supposed to value. i have found that being more honest about and pursuing what i value has made my life a lot better. i also think it's good for people to have idiosyncratic values — good to have a robust social division of valuing

had a dream a few days ago where i was a character in a sitcom called LENNON 2047 — the premise is that, in this world, John Lennon lived to 2047 (and he's a jackass). the hallucinated show follows his 40 year old loser son ringo, who he almost exclusively calls "other ringo."

okay yes this is in line with american imperialism more broadly and is not a totally radical deviation from american foreign policy. that all said, this is an unusually quick act of war, with significantly less energy spent manufacturing consent than is typical. this is an intensification of trends!
