Personally, I would rather read something imperfect written by a human over a perfect technical article completely generated by an LLM.

Definitely was a community effort - shout out all the reviewers and folks who helped with the implementation. TL;DR PEXT instructions allow for really fast bit manipulations on x86 systems with a scalar fallback. Plenty of additional optimizations to be made: github.com/apache/arrow... :D

Yes. So by that virtue DOGE itself is not transparent. The federal data here was already *always* available and is fully transparent. I don’t understand why DOGE even exists when we already have the GAO.

Don’t they just get this data from publicly available federal data?

Ah yeah. Guess I just didn’t really ever consider them as different languages. I used to quite enjoy working with typescript because I’m very attracted to well defined types and data shapes. I now work with rust and go professionally and am just forever used to types.

WeblWabl @whateverforever.computer · 22/11/2024
Ah yeah, interesting. Guess I never thought of it that way haha. I always just sort of bucketed them in to the same thing.

WeblWabl @whateverforever.computer · 22/11/2024
Oh yeah, I’m familiar with Typescript sorry I should have put more context. I was a typescript dev for ~3 years in the past. That being said I always viewed them as essentially the same thing even though typescript added things on to JS.

WeblWabl @whateverforever.computer · 22/11/2024
Are typescript and JavaScript different languages? I mean there would be no typescript without JavaScript 🤔 also I believe most libraries for typescript are actually JavaScript with JSDOC type hints.

I’ve been wanting to potentially try to do something that mixes datafusion and ATproto. I’ve seen some folks doing some cool duckDB atproto stuff so it may be neat to building something using a different query engine.

Yep precisely that. I always thought heaps were just your standard tree like data structure encompassing pointers to the next nodes but looking at the source code for various langs heap libraries that is not the case! My assumption was wrong :D

Initially while gaining inspiration from the rust heap library in std:collections. I noticed that they were not building a "tree" how I would suspect. I.E. implementing a struct that holds references to a 'right' and 'left' node. doc.rust-lang.org/src/alloc/co...
