Will be very happy to be proven wrong but the way the City verdict is being reported reminds me of the Leveson Enquiry. Was supposed to be some sort of watershed moment but fuck all came out of it.

Find myself thinking that a) both sides have good points to make about drinking at football and that a respectful discussion might help clarify the issue, that b) obviously a certain corner of Bluesky are going to go nuts about it and c) I’m so glad this place didn’t exist during Covid.

My contribution to the Sydney Sweeney outrage about the is that for naked pictures of a phenomenally attractive woman, they’re really boring.

Heysel stadium. Our headteacher yelled at us at assembly on the Monday morning like it was our fault. I was seven. Cunt.

www.theguardian.com/commentisfre... Perhaps my most classically woke opinion is that this is both ableist and authoritarian. People going “it’s just my opinion” about something that has fuck all to do with you and also doesn’t affect you in the slightest. Fuck off.

This reminds me of the performative non-football liking music student at university who claimed to have spent the evening of the Euro 96 semi final writing a musical based on the Vietnam war called “Apocalypse Wow!”

Argentina are the kind of team where I wouldn’t shake hands with them after the game and all of a sudden I’d be the one in the wrong for some reason.

Missed the whole of the build up to the game because I was watching Batman Begins with Child 2. Like that bit in Peep Show where they’re imagining they’re watching Heat during something awful, except I just watched it.

Same with people describing England as “embarrassing”. Why? Did you personally tell Thomas Tuchel to let his arsehole fall out?

My main issue with Haaland is that he normalizes Manchester City and kids that don’t know better might start thinking it’s ok to support that club

Since USMNT now going through the usual England discourse of "is it ok to support them": I think you have to accept sports are a stupid place where nationalism is fair game. It's fine to support them. But you don't really need to argue that doing so is morally *good*, either. It's just dumb fun.

A proper government would be making a huge deal of this instead of letting it dribble out because they’re scared of their imaginary bogeyman voter in Stoke.

I needed a username for something else and he popped into my head for some reason. Once got into a row (my fault) with some Everything Is The West's Fault people and ended up getting admonished for appropriating the tragic story of a working class folk hero or something. I just quite like his vibe.

Greatly enjoying my birthday present from @noscoredraws.com which my wife insisted I take into work. Particularly impressed at how they’ve made Max Dowman look like what he actually looks like (i.e. literally every teenage boy in Brighton).
