turns out if you add a lot of texture to the underside of a nudibranch and invert it you get a great monster design

made something for the game I haven't finished in three years: fish ones. i think i found the perfect xerox look recipe (although xerox hell by @chaoclypse.bsky.social is awesome as well, and i wouldn't need to fiddle in Photoshop for every image)

i think something like bastionland/ito, where you have "freedom of flavor" (oversimplifying bc character limit) but the system is tightly tuned to what it wants to be, is my favorite way to deal with this

when i was at the mental clinic one day there was a movie about brie larson and unicorns on the tv and when a fucking unicorn appeared a guy had an episode. he was triggered by unicorns. a) no one can predict people's triggers because life's experiences are infinite or b) it was brie larson's fault?

like we have so much in the public domain or in creative commons with attribution that we can use, you don't even need to do collage as i did, you can just use it as is. you just have to look for it. the process of research itself gives you so many new ideas, you find so much more than you intended

The game itself is mostly a list of 100 different backgrounds, each one delightfully twisted and strange and unique. You could have a party made up of an Escaped Human Sacrifice, a Magician, an Artist, and a Failed Experiment (what I got by rolling 4d100 just now)
