Researchers found that CO₂ affinity was similar in species with & without a CCM. However, maximum photosynthetic rates were higher in Plocamium cirrhosum & Delisea pulchra. Pollexfenia lobata showed a lower CO₂ affinity than values reported for isolated red algal Rubisco. @bachlennart.bsky.social

João P.G. Machado (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro) sampled seaweed communities on tropical and temperate shores and calculated the C/SR ratio: competitive strategies relative to combined stress-tolerant and ruderal strategies. The ratio increased exponentially from the upper to lower shore.
