Animal behaviour research often looks for general patterns, but unusual behaviours can reveal how behavioural diversity emerges. 🐒 2026 Frans de Waal PhD Dissertation Award winner @zoegoldsborough.bsky.social explores rare cultural traditions in tool-using white-faced capuchins in Panama.

Rising temperatures can challenge animals’ ability to regulate body temperature. While heat effects on adult birds are well documented, less is known about #Juveniles. A new #OpenAccess study examines how wild post-fledging #GreatTits respond to rising temperatures.

🌊 Intertidal zones are natural laboratories, with strong gradients in temperature, salinity and water movement. But how do #Seaweed functional strategies change along these gradients? A new model explores this using three strategies: competitive (C), stress-tolerant (S) and ruderal (R).

Epiphytic #Algae can reduce the productivity of cultivated carrageenophytes, especially Kappaphycus spp. and Eucheuma denticulatum. But their diversity remains poorly documented. New research uses #DNA barcoding to investigate these overlooked algae.
