Good old Ai. Always so great at giving out 100% factual information…

Google’s Ai Overview on the availability of Live and Let Die on VCD (video cd).

My official copy of Live and Let Die on VCD (Video CD) I bought from a physical media store I used to work in late 90s/00s.

A nice pick up recently from a local bookshop. Really lovely collection of black & white vintage Doctor Who photographs/stills. I was trying to work out where they might have come from originally? Were they available in Shops? The quality looks too good to be just run off from someone’s computer.

Cheers, Pete. I really loved some of the illustrations in that one. Apologies if the video started halfway through for you. Hopefully you rewound it. For some reason I miss-copied the link so it starts at 1:48 in. D'oh!!

This is awesome. Probably the best thing I’ve picked up in ruddy ages. A genuine autographed photograph of Ernő Rubik, creator of the Rubik’s Cube, taken whilst he was out and about in the 80s promoting the Rubik’s Snake. The old school gamer in me absolutely loves this.

I still did it on the slide scanner, Pete, but I found a way with one of the attachments I have of just feeding the celluloid though and taking the scan that way. It was trial and error but it did kind of work I think.

Great pick up from my local bookshop yesterday. The Man Who Sold Death by James Munro. I bought it solely for the amazing cover though as it instantly gave me hauntological vibes. Sapphire and Steel (The Shape) anyone? #booksky #themanwhosolddeath #sapphireandsteel #theshape

Now I've worked out how to do them properly with the slide scanner they're even better. Didn't have to cut them up either. I ruddy love the look of some of these. For me it's the colours and the typography that makes them.

A few more examples here, Pete. Again really love the illustrations on these…

110

Welchtoons @welchtoons.bsky.social · 07/07/2026

Yes, I think so. Only checked a few though. May have to cut up to properly scan via slide scanner. May well experiment with one to see how they come out.

The Digestive Organs...sneaky peak!! Not sure how to digitally transfer at the moment as the films are all on celluloid but you get a rough idea from this. Sorry about the poor quality. The pixelation is because I'm holding it up in front of a monitor. Love those 60s illustrations though.

@stoopalu.bsky.social Happy to pass these over to you when I'm done with them, Pete. They all came from Marv at Chichester Books. Got some more slides too. 😀

Beautiful find of the day. Awesome collection of 1960s (I think) medical films all produced by the Rank Organisation. The films, from what I can see, all look amazing i.e., gorgeously retro and kitsch. Also love having the little metal canisters with original Rank logo on them.

Pulpy crime pick up from Emsworth’s Magic free book shop Telephone box yesterday. Love the sleazy James Bond inspired cover on this one. Have to admit the title is kind of giving me Alan Partridge vibes too.

I always forget 33 years ago I had a very brief stint in the computer games industry. Believe it or not this is the first time I've ever seen this game being played. Crazy to see it again after so many years or to actually hear the Rick Wakeman soundtrack. Always remember designing those cockpits.
