I’m tired and already in bed, but I want to go paint. But I want to paint tiny paintings on tiny pieces of wood that I lost somehow. And so I’m laying in bed debating if I should go reorganize the basement, even though what I need to do is prepare for the class I’m teaching tomorrow.

Sometimes I remember that I can often just fix or alter something that I don’t like. I had this wood spoon that didn’t fit in the canister it came with, so I carved it down to size. Now it fits, and it feels much nicer to hold, and it’s unique to me. Enjoy knife ASMR noises if that is your thing.

Much of the time when people say “Jesus Christ” as an exclamatory they are not “taking the Lord’s name in vain”, as many evangelicals believe, but they’re saying the Lord’s name in the same way some would say “lord have mercy” or “God help us”.

Faith is not just belief, another misconception I think many people have. To have perfect faith is to surrender yourself to the current of God’s love and providence, and go where it takes you, despite the seeming impossibility or recklessness of the request.

I think that there is a really gross misunderstanding about what it means to be Christian, and it stems from a misinterpreting much of what Jesus is quoted as saying in the Gospels, and especially Paul’s epistles.

Painting Tip of the Day: Having trouble with edges - soft vs hard, lost vs found? Try these basics first. 1) Soften edges that turn into shadow. 2) Lose edges at the peaks of highlights. 3) Soften edges anytime an edge passes behind another. 4) Soften any edges that go off the frame of reference.

Honestly, good. Let the premiums sky rocket. Expose the absurd greed of the insurance industry. Expose the callous disregard for human life and health by those in power. If this is what they want, let them have it. The ACA was a bandaid, not a fix, at some point it needs to be ripped off.

Consumers have to be the ones in the end who care the clothing life cycle, and most people aren’t going to care if they can afford to be wasteful. Unless clothing is (again) prohibitively expensive people will continue to consume more than they need.
