This isn't true. Among 2024 voters, 45% of women voted for Trump.

In the last 3 days, 3 men in semi-rural PA, rural GA, & rural CA murdered their families. This isn't just about guns or mental illness. It's about violence against women: kill who she loves, then kill her as ultimate show of who's boss. Misogyny is everywhere, but it's an epidemic in MAGA-land.

ALASKA RANKED CHOICE VOTING Alaska has some of the toughest campaign finance transparency laws in the country. Outside spenders are funding a ballot measure to get rid of those laws, RCV & open primaries. That would flood Alaska’s elections with untraceable campaign cash. VOTE NO on 2 NOon2ak.com

A little-known fact about moose is that they can retract their heads completely into their bodies, as in your maybe-moose photo, or extend them Inspector Gadget style to reach the tastiest treats.
Cow moose, body largely hidden by grass, extending her neck and ginormous snout to nibble at the leaves of a mature birch tree.

Federal law prohibits armed offices or uniformed military at polling places. The Trump-owned DOJ and bootlicking Republican Congress will argue that a ballot box isn't a polling place, but that's semantic games. Posting military personnel at drop-off boxes is a clear violation of spirit of the law.

As recently as September, SBE's website proudly declared that it supported 63% of all research in US social and psychological sciences and worked to "creat[e] opportunities everywhere." Now, that message is gone.
Wayback machine version of SBE site: SBE provides 63% of the funding for all academic research in social and psychological sciences in the U.S.

Through its core disciplinary and interdisciplinary programs, as well as contributions to cross-directorate NSF investments, SBE supports approximately 5,000 scientists, educators and students in a typical year.

The directorate's priorities include:

Timely new paper in @socioeconreview.bsky.social: Does rising wealth concentration undermine American democracy? Using variation across the 50 U.S. states, results reveal a clear, negative effect of millionaire wealth concentration on democratic performance. doi.org/10.1093/ser/mwag058
Wealth concentration in the United States has reached heights not seen since the Gilded Age, renewing fears that concentrated economic power may undermine democracy. Yet empirical research linking inequality to democratic erosion remains inconclusive, partly because most studies focus on cross-country comparison and examine income rather than wealth. This study exploits variation across fifty U.S. states; each
embedded in a common federal framework but differing in political and economic dynamics. To estimate the exogenous effect of rising wealth concentration on democratic backsliding, I develop a shift-share instrument of state-level millionaire wealth shares. Results reveal a clear, negative effect on democratic performance. Causal mediation analysis demonstrates that the effect is mediated by the share of seats held by
Republicans in state legislatures, pointing to a mechanism of elite influence through partisan channels. These findings demonstrate that subnational wealth disparities, and their convergence with partisan politics, actively erode American democratic institutions.

In my experience, students often default to individualistic solutions (e.g., more training, which tacitly assumes morality and empathy can be taught in a one-day workshop) rather than structural ones. Which isn't a surprise, given the individualistic culture in which most have been raised.

Interesting that "greater oversight of fraternities", "force nationals to allow sororities to host parties", or "require CUPD to call in independent SA investigators" didn't make list. Is there any systematic, plausibly causal evidence that mandatory trainings (beyond what's already mandated) work?
