Webgiant @webgiant.bsky.social · 2hThink of a Democratic Congressional leadership press conference you thought was strong. I haven't heard a single compliment about any past press conference Democrats have done. They've gotten tired of dancing for people who then insult their dancing. 100
Webgiant @webgiant.bsky.social · 2hWeirdly, when Trump has run up against a court saying he can't do something, and his SCOTUS buddies refuse to intervene or decide against him, he goes with the ruling. He looks around for another way to do it, but he obeys the ruling. Democrat response can't be strong, they aren't the majority. 010
Webgiant @webgiant.bsky.social · 5hThey do/don't do a press conference. Everyone will still bag on them for "not doing enough." Then everyone will say "We need to punish the Democratic Party," which just helps Republicans get elected. People are stupid. 200

Webgiant @webgiant.bsky.social · 7hThe 25th Amendment doesn’t remove the President. It just temporarily removes him from his powers, and he can unilaterally get them back. Vance is just Acting President until Trump tells Congress he's fine. The 25th is not a solution to Trump. bsky.app/profile/webg... 000
Webgiant @webgiant.bsky.social · 7hSection 4 is for Presidents in comas or rendered unable to speak. Even if all of that happens and he's temporarily removed, he just sends a message to Congress saying I'm Fine, and he resumes Presidential powers again. Huge waste of a Congressional Supermajority. 000
Webgiant @webgiant.bsky.social · 7hNo Amendment required, it's in the original Constitution, Impeach-Remove. It has never removed a President. Nixon even had good odds had he not resigned. 000
Webgiant @webgiant.bsky.social · 7hPardons cannot be overturned, otherwise Hunter Biden would have been Trump's first target prosecution. 000
Webgiant @webgiant.bsky.social · 7hVP Vance has to invoke it, to bring it before the Cabinet for a vote. It's temporary even if it succeeds, and Trump has the power to unilaterally resume being President under the 25th. It's not a solution here. bsky.app/profile/webg... 000
Webgiant @webgiant.bsky.social · 7hThere aren't enough flippable seats in the Senate for a Democratic Supermajority for Removal, so don't expect him removed. The House can vote to impeach, but without Remove, Trump just uses his impeachments as fundraising opportunities. Impeaching him just makes him an even wealthier President. 010
Webgiant @webgiant.bsky.social · 7hThe 25th is for Presidents in comas, not active resisting Presidents, and it just makes Vance Acting President (doesn't even count as a term under the 22nd). Trump remains President. bsky.app/profile/webg... 000
Webgiant @webgiant.bsky.social · 7hCongress is designed to make the minority party powerless to introduce legislation without the help of the majority. You're getting angry at people who don't have the power to do what you want. They won't even have a supermajority next year, not enough flippable seats. So no Impeach-Remove. 100
Webgiant @webgiant.bsky.social · 7hThe 25th requires VP Vance to invoke it. Congress can pass legislation (must survive a Trump veto) creating a separate body replacing the Cabinet function in the 25th, but Vance must turn on Trump either way. And then its just temporary. bsky.app/profile/webg... 000
Webgiant @webgiant.bsky.social · 7hCareful there, the Secret Service can drag you in for comments like that. Happened to me and I didn't even say anything explicit like you just did. 000
Webgiant @webgiant.bsky.social · 7hCingress is completely uninvolved in invoking the 25th. They could pass legislation, that Trump is free to Veto, to create a group replacing the Cabinet function in the 25th, but they need VP Vance to invoke the 25th. bsky.app/profile/webg... 120
Webgiant @webgiant.bsky.social · 7hThere's no law or precedent that would allow Trump to delay elections. None of his Presidential powers, not even emergency powers, involve elections. Those powers are reserved for the States in the US Constitution. Governors could legally push back on election interference. 110
Webgiant @webgiant.bsky.social · 8hIf Trump then says he's fine, in a message to Congress, the whole process must begin again. Multiple supermajorities accomplishing nothing. The involuntary Sec 4 of the 25th is for Presidents in comas, not awake resisting Presidents. There's a better use of a supermajority: Impeach-Remove. (2/2) 110
Webgiant @webgiant.bsky.social · 8hThe 25th requires the VP, and currently a majority of the Cabinet, to turn on Trump. Even if that happens, Trump can claim to be fine. Then a Congress supermajority is required to temporarily remove Trump from his Powers. He Remains President, Vance becomes Acting President. (1/2) 110
Webgiant @webgiant.bsky.social · 8hTrump is glad that you think elections can be hacked. Don't make him happy. 200
Webgiant @webgiant.bsky.social · 8hAs many, many election tech people have pointed out, hacking voting machines requires that the hackers stand at each voting machine. They're not networked. The thousands of hackers required even for just the roughly 1,447 counties in swing states would have been impossible to hide. 110
Webgiant @webgiant.bsky.social · 12hMAGA in 2024 didn't cheat, elections were fair and safe. Trump just wants you to believe he rigged the election in 2024 because he's desperate for you to believe elections can be rigged, so people might start to believe his 2020 election claims. 110
