Interestingly, though, this isn't really true of Durham Food Lions. There are like 10 in the city, and I can only see 2 that are flanked by Chinese restaurants after a quick check. Shout out to Thai Spoon in North Durham, tho

It's been a meme for years. But one man actually ran the numbers and found proof that the correlation is very real in North Carolina. So, in this Rabbit Hole investigation, we enlisted others to help ...

Aw, thanks Samantha! One of my early projects as a baby freelancer, and I have always been thrilled it turned out so well. (Don't come for me, omniscience hive)

I watched Burn After Reading by myself in the terrible theater right on prospect park the week I moved to NYC and it is wild to me that was during the Bush Administration haha

Yeah as a resident of West Durham, I acknowledge graduate and professional school exemptions. Funnily, my dad is Illinois undergrad (grew up in Urbana!) and Duke PhD, so I can’t really throw stones anyway

All right, folks: Philadelphia Magazine has excerpted chapter 7 of my upcoming book "Moses and the Doctor." This is my favorite chapter--it's on the 1977 NBA Finals, a battle between Bill Walton's Trail Blazers and Dr. J's 76ers. It was rich with symbolism. www.phillymag.com/news/2026/02...

“We Owe You One”: The Sixers, the 1977 NBA Finals, and the Fight for the Future of Basketball
In an excerpt from the forthcoming 'Moses and The Doctor,' author Luke Epplin explores everything that went wrong for the Sixers — and how the stakes were much higher than what happened on the court.

This is so damn sad. That Danny isn't widely known as one of the greatest American writers is about the shape of the literary world, not the quality of his work. He was a real one.

There was also a Bojangles in Brooklyn, on Broadway on the Bed-Stuy/Bushwick border, when I moved to the city in the late 00's. It was a pretty crappy one, but scratched the itch for us wayward NC transplants. It disappeared somewhere in the 2011 range I think, missed by no one but me.
