A friend very kindly tried to send me a fountain pen ink sample and I am devastated to share with you the beautiful paper towel that came wrapped around the almost empty vial.

A wadded up paper towel completely saturated in dried Nagasawa Kobe City Loop Green, rendering it lovely shades of deep teal and the vial, unseen, almost empty.

Thank you! It's at a stage where I hesitate to complete it because I like what it looks like now (but I also have a plan)

I'll never subscribe to the Seattle Times, even though they have some really substantial journalists because they so complacently ditch all editorial standards for their board and/or ownership's pet causes. It's been true long before Katie Wilson but it's especially demonstrated now.

I will need to covet this in an unrequited fashion, and maybe go home and write something in my sparkliest ink.

That's so bleak. My sympathies; I really love your work and if you have any Seattle shows this winter, I'll be there.

The reason Hegseth hates beards now is because they used to be banned in the military and the exception was for black men who are more likely to have health problems from shaving. He's using it as subterfuge for kicking black people out of career military positions.

Good news is that when I went in last week they still had them all in stock :)

Is it the Tono & Lims exclusives at Happy Hues? Because I can confirm they are delicious.

Audible is currently transitioning to a new model with different agreements for distribution and studio audio, so I'm not sure any figure I could give (I'd have to dig it up and crunch some numbers) would be accurate three months from now, unfortunately. Sorry.

That 25% is usually net receipts, not list price. And Audible often sells at discount and the percentage an author gets accordingly can be labyrinthine. So the answer is it can vary wildly but in general my sense is buying the book supports the author regardless of format.

I am never not going to be mindblown by Josh Johnson's format, but also sometimes I feel like our brains are on the exact same wavelength (only he is funny).

I'd like to see a Democratic majority go further, and work on restoring Roe v Wade. It's disconcerting to see Democrats say they will protect our current rights but so little discussion about restoring rights we've lost and obtaining justice for people who have been wronged under this admin.

Sometimes a friend and I become mutually reminded that mcsweeney's exists and I swear it leads to calumny every time.

Text dialog reading:
Sender: "I was stuck in a chimney"
Me: "You were a petit parisien? I don't really see you that way "
Sender: "Je suis le gros parisien. That's how I got stuck."

Me, buying a blind bag of stickers: I'm going to share these with all my pen pals Me, opening up my blind bag of stickers:

The Bilbo Baggins meme where he says "After all, why not? Why shouldn't I keep it?" as his happy charm transforms into almost sinister covetousness, warped by the One Ring as pretty much everything is.

Unicorns: are they all assholes, or just easily startled? I'm sorry, I meant to have a real question but I am not very awake today.

Undoubtedly because the outfit is incomplete without a little park ranger vest.

I may need to get some better lamps, though. It's just after noon and the gloom is beautiful but I'm working on a painting and I really need to see the full spectrum of color.

It's started raining, so this is the first day in Seattle that actually feels like autumn to me (rather than hinting boldly at it; the smell started a couple weeks ago and leaves have been turning here and there). Weepy persistent rain is a core part of the season for me.

But also: she is adorable so I'm sure the lack of sleep is fine.

This is wild to me. My cats would love it if they could drug me into sleeping 20 hours a day. If they weighed more they would probably hold me hostage. As it is I feel like I'm in a heist film dodging lasers whenever I try to climb out of bed.

well, one could count monopoly-busting and nationalizing some of their assets as a form of winning them back.

Part of me wonders if the guy realized that unleashing a program with such open parameters that it hacks competitors and can cause other, potentially massive, disruptions is something that should be considered a crime, and is trying to distance himself.

Dreamed last night that I made a Venn diagram comparing Schumer and Merz and they both thought it was complimentary. Sometimes I wish I dreamed about my teeth falling out or going out in public naked.

Apparently those guys, but it sounds like they got what they deserved! There is so much German culinary influence on US foodways that our junk/fast foods have a lot of overlap. If someone was put out because they wanted a spicy curry in Frankfurt and couldn't get one, I'd have more sympathy.
