I have some artwork in a group show down in Georgetown, starting Oct. 3. What art? Uh, I forgot to take pictures. So it's a surprise for you and, by the time the show closes, possibly also me. I swear I'll get better about that.
Dramatic graphic text reading "Side Rail gallery presents the BIG SHOW of small works 2026" overlaid on a blurred, bold graphic of a red circle trailing a jade tail like a comet. Below, in small dark text reads "Art Attack: Oct 10, Nov 14, Dec 12 Saturdays 4-8. Open Oct 3-Dec 19, Saturdays 12-4. 5511 1/2 Airport Way S -siderailcollective.com"

A friend very kindly tried to send me a fountain pen ink sample and I am devastated to share with you the beautiful paper towel that came wrapped around the almost empty vial.
A wadded up paper towel completely saturated in dried Nagasawa Kobe City Loop Green, rendering it lovely shades of deep teal and the vial, unseen, almost empty.

Work in progress.
A watercolor painting-in-progress of a human silhouette, posed from the upper arms upward, filled in with a pale orange background and an incomplete mass of old hydrangea blossoms and leaves.

Sometimes a friend and I become mutually reminded that mcsweeney's exists and I swear it leads to calumny every time.

Me, buying a blind bag of stickers: I'm going to share these with all my pen pals Me, opening up my blind bag of stickers:
The Bilbo Baggins meme where he says "After all, why not? Why shouldn't I keep it?" as his happy charm transforms into almost sinister covetousness, warped by the One Ring as pretty much everything is.

It's started raining, so this is the first day in Seattle that actually feels like autumn to me (rather than hinting boldly at it; the smell started a couple weeks ago and leaves have been turning here and there). Weepy persistent rain is a core part of the season for me.

Dreamed last night that I made a Venn diagram comparing Schumer and Merz and they both thought it was complimentary. Sometimes I wish I dreamed about my teeth falling out or going out in public naked.

I love that my notebooks don't have to be comprehensible to anyone else. Baba Yaga, I write. I add a question mark and underline it all significantly. Then I draw a little house with chicken legs. Do I actually explain? I do not.

Delta, presumably: please, Seattle, please spend your money on an international summer vacation. The Irish, presumably: you know it's like 15c and rainy right now, right? The Summerlands, obviously: come child, step into the stone circle and dance among us, never to tire or worry or return...
A video ad in a light rail station. The text, in white on a blue background, reads "Delta. Chase an endless summer in Ireland. Shannon is ready when you are." Above it is a photo of rolling green hills and a person in blue jeans, presumably Shannon, frolicking in the grass.

Ah, the joy of a Seattle morning, roving the streets with an $8 coffee, listening to the bleating of lime scooters as the urban everyperson takes it upon themselves to make sure they're no longer blocking sidewalks, bus stops, and disabled access points.

I've seen Jimothy painted, animated, engraved, and carved in Fordite. The city's thrown impromptu award ceremonies, art contests, and raves in a raccoon's honor, and all I can think is that we should do more of this enthusiastic, creative community and less of... quite a lot really.

I snapped this photo a few weeks ago and finally got around to looking up the number. It's live. You can leave a voice message. Too millennial for phones, but need to liquidate a certain something? Try webuysouls.com; they're harvesting up and down the coast, I'm sure for good reasons.
