(Warning: about to show my age) There have been plenty of games that I love/loved & replay again and again, but Legend of Dragoon was the very first video game RPG I ever played and I was hooked since, and BG3 got me (and still does) through life these days and sparks creativity I thought I’d lost 💜

The Art Of The Night ✨ WIP Wednesday over on Tumblr and I wanted to share this snippet over here too because I am, for a change, quite proud of this one 🥹✨ #bg3 #bg3fanfiction #bg3fanfic #bg3writing #bg3gale #galedekarios #galextav #baldursgate3 #galeofwaterdeep

A virtual photograph from Baldur's Gate 3 Gale's act 2 astral romance scene. Gale and Seraphina are in their astral projection forms, linking hands in the astral planem glowing magically.

They had crossed planes, she realised, their disembodied forms suspended and shimmering in the great, starry sea of the astral plane.

That was when it dawned on her.

He was not merely showing off.

Perhaps a little. Perhaps because he knew that she grasped how very impressive this feat of magic was. Something so rare and powerful it was almost singular, defined by the skills he had spent a lifetime cultivating, and whatever trace of power he still had lingering in his soul for once being Mystra’s Chosen. He wanted to impress her, like he was still, somehow, uncertain that he had the whole of her heart.

But that was not the sole purpose of this. It wasn’t even the strongest motivator.

She understood then with the clarity of daylight, the transparency of their astral forms shimmering against the backdrop of the cosmos, that this was an act of deepest love.

A love for his craft, his art, the thing he had dedicated his life to from so young an age it had become his most constant companion. He was indulging in it again not for practicality and purpose, as he’d had to do so often of late, but for the pure, unbridled joy of it once again. For pleasure—deliberately frivolous, simply to enjoy every beautiful thing it had to offer one final time before the curtain fell.

And a love for her so profound it would have pulled the air from her lungs, if she had need of air at all in this form. He had brought her along with him. Yes, to declare his love, but primarily to show her just how much she meant to him. To place her at the very heart of all he held dearest and say, in no uncertain terms, that she belonged there. That she was as important to him as his foremost love.

He wanted her to know magic as he did—truly know it, and love it, and leave her fear of it behind in the surrounding shadows of Reithwin as she moved forward.

But how was she supposed to move forward without him?

Gale’s face fell, sensing the strand of sadness she had plucked. His ethereal hand smoothed against her cheek and his voice whispered in her head, soft as morning dew.

Stay with me now…

She pressed her cheek into his palm, the sensation of it like touching the very surface of a body of water, soft as silk.

If they only had this one night, she’d do better than to waste it on self pity.

A 3D render of Shadowheart and Rugan from BG3. She is laying on her stomach on the bed, her ankles crossed behind her as she reaches up to rest a hand on Rugan's chest. He is kneeling on the edge of the bed, caressing her face with one hand and holding her forearm with the other.

Ellie and Gale train each other in what they know (Ellie, swords and Gale, magic) until they can fight alongside the other with both. I hc that Ellie’s first spell was fireball 🔥 mostly because it sounded like something she could easily threaten someone with 😉 #tavqotd
