But if by "incremental change" you mean increasing maximum building heights from 2 to 3 stories, that still doesn't pencil for infill in most situations, meaning that it simply won't happen.

This is the whole thing! If there's no demand, then you don't have anything to worry about with upzoning. But if there is demand, then the zoning is limiting growth! The only time you "need it" is when it will have a deleterious effect!

You can like towns, heck you can like cities, and still be a NIMBY. You don't have to be a suburbanist to be anti-growth. Just look at every left NIMBY in SF or NYC. They are ride or die urbanists who can't share.

Berkeley's 50-year-old bakery and pizza shop Nabolom is closing this Sunday. Absolutely heartbreaking, because they have what I believe to be the best pastries in town.

It's what was on TV at the time and we watched it every week. I know it's not *the best* ST series in the sweep of history, but TNG was finishing its run when I was a little kid (we did watch it but some episodes were scary to me) and my family never got into DS9.

I grew up homeschooling, from preschool to college. I learned pretty early to pass (to borrow a phrase) as a school kid - everyone freshman year said I didn't "seem like" a homeschooler. This moment was one that informed that choice to blend in rather than double down on my weirdness.

Ahh, the good old "admin" charge code.

They document substantial overtime spending on the type of public-facing law enforcement work typically handled by San Francisco police, including street patrols, drug operations and investigations — among them a yet-to-be-televised sting of alleged child sex offenders with former “To Catch a Predator” host Chris Hansen.

The office also doled out vast overtime for administrative functions like handling workers’ compensation claims and providing executive support — including driving Sheriff Paul Miyamoto around the city, though many of the records described the work only as “admin.”
