I've been so stuck in with #LFF, but it's a sign of a strong lineup when 14 films in the lowest score I've had is a 2.5, and there's still so much great stuff yet to come over the next 8 days! Prepare yourself for a highlights thread:

I'm absolutely shattered (plus I travel to set myself up for LFF tomorrow), but my marathon broadcast show earlier was some of the most fun I've ever had doing radio. Listen back to hear me review Digger and play some of my favourite number 1s of the last 25 years! www.mixcloud.com/bathsound/jo...

You can get angry at the WB/Paramount merger. And you should. But it's also important to not crash out over things you cannot control. Your own life is more important than corporate interests.

On a related note, the London Film Festival lineup for this year has zero entries distributed by Warner Bros or Paramount. If the Ellisons and Zaslav want to monopolise the industry, then it's only fitting in a way that their own slate becomes less diverse and is shunned by groups like the BFI.

If there's anything we should take away from losing Dolly Parton, Tim Curry and Peter Cullen back to back to back, it's that we should aspire even more than ever to unapologetically do what we love most and bring joy to people's lives, so that we're remembered for the same reasons they will be.

Tim Curry and Dolly Parton have taught us not only that you should be bigger, weirder, gayer, and freakier, but also that those qualities are what people will love about you. The things that make you strange and amazing are the things that will resonate with other strange and amazing people

We need a serious reckoning about the British press. We've had too many tragedies. And this whole saga was nothing but appealing to the worst, most prejudiced instincts of their writers and readers. They turned this into a cruel, relentless spectacle until a terrible outcome.

It's so transparently just a vehicle for The Rock to play Maui again in live-action, which I don't even think will go all that well as to me he sounded a lot flatter and more disinterested vocally in the sequel.

A big takeaway this year has to be that Sinners and One Battle After Another were big, artist driven, swings bankrolled by WB whose future is ultimately unclear. I like living in a world where people like PTA and Ryan Coogler get to make the films they want to make with those resources.

The last ceremony I watched live was four years ago so this is an automatic improvement on that. I have no major gripes with the winners, Conan O'Brien was reliably great but the technicals were especially sloppy. Whoever was in charge of the mics and exit music seriously needed reigning in. #Oscars
