An illustration I made in 2022, the first time I lost my SNAP food stamp benefits. Today, October 1st 2026 marks major changes in the way food stamps are funded, many americans already struggling to eat, myself included, will lose coverage. Millions of americans have already had their benefits taken away.

Dating ourselves with an "okay, grandma, let's get you back to bed" yelling at clouds post here, but when and (more importantly) WHY did we as a culture decide the best way for a UI to have scrollbars should be for it to pretend it doesn't?

A Windows 95 application window. The scrollbar on the right is big, bulky, and prominent. Modern design sensibilities would call this wasted real estate or UI clutter, especially in an empty document that technically doesn't even need a scrollbar yet because nothing extends far enough down to need to scroll to see it. At least no one could ever doubt it was DEFINITELY THERE, though.

We're finally getting around to checking out FFXIV, I guess? Or at least trying the demo, IDK. Anyway, meet Kat "Cat Face" Fayse, seen here rocking that glorious "I'm level 7 and this is what the random mismatched bullshit the shops and quest rewards had so far I guess" drip. (More in alt text!)

Overall, she looks like either a pirate or Snake Plisskin's gender-flipped fursona tried to rob a clothing drive for the homeless, only to find that they didn't have any shoes in size "Holy Shit."

This picture is technically completely safe for work, but you'll never guess the author's fetish or where the majority of time and attention to detail went when messing with all the body replacement mods and model tweaks and such.
