Got the last roll of Montreal film back. A roll that I risked by using the Olympus' built in light meter, which I had not yet tested. The fact that it turned out well is great since it means I can probably trust that. These shots were mostly around NDG.

Some nice street are on the side of a building.

I just liked this large parking/loading area. Not that common in a mostly residential area.

Blue skies, white clouds, interesting wall. That is about it.

While I am sure this is for loading and unloading a truck, it is still funny seeing the doors that far above the ground.

Got another roll of film back. This was just a personal day walking around downtown. I went to my alma matter, McGill, because I do like the variety of architecture there.

The Cheese Grater. I mean, the Burnside Building. The mathematics building.

An entrance to the underground passageways on campus. Yes, a lot of the buildings are connected by underground passageways which is really helpful when it is really cold in the winter. When weather is warmer, people sit on top of it as there are steps on the right side that lead up to a nice seating area on top.

Very excited. I shot seven rolls of film at UMAD. It has been a minute since I have shot high ISO film so I was not sure if any of them were going to turn out. Suffice to say from these previews (waiting for the download... big files), I am happy.

One of my all-time favorite rules, from Pea Ridge (1980). The designer's great-great-grandfather fought in the battle, and if his unit takes damage you roll a die to see if he survives. If he dies, the designer is never born, and the game doesn't exist, and so automatically ends in a draw.

The final day of UMAD 2026. Unsurprisingly, 0-2 in +R (even though I picked top tier Bridget). Watched SamSho, 2XKO, KOF15, and Tokon, to name a few, and played a few sets of Xrd, doing my best to maintain the tradition of Xrd casuals always go to the end of tournaments.

Casuals before the noon bracket opened up. Practically predawn for gamers. Still, our 24 person pool with four setups took 40 minutes to run. Bringing this up for no reason whatsoever.

French player Wawa won 2XKO today, beating Devillion twice. It was fun to see.

After the cabs were used for VSAV (on MiSTer) and Third Strike (on original hardware), they finally busted out the true fighting game, Neo Turf Masters. The purist of games. Just avoid the bunker.

We took a crowd picture with the staff before the Tokon top 8 (which was won by Wawa after a reset in Grand Finals). UMAD was in a lovely venue and the people were great. My apologies to the person on the right who was just out of frame.

Day 2 of UMAD. Started off with some casuals against Arcfieri and then France. Then watched a lot of bbtag while photographing top eight. Then went 1-2 in mbaacc where I faced France again. Then played some, photographed a lot. Here are some samples. Bonus picture in reply to this.

People seem to still really enjoy 2XKO at UMAD. I hope ti see it there next year too.

Montreal Metros are cool. Each station has a unique design. This one is Villa-Maria

Some of the decor at Villa-Maria Metro station. Three circles that have a gap for an 'axle' or sorts. From left to right, the first one is yellow and the gap is pointed upwards. Second is orange with the gap at a 45 degree angle clockwise from the first. Third is red with the gap horizontal and pointing to the right. The orange one does have a cup and other garbage in it.

Had fun revisiting my alma matter with its blend of brutalist architecture and more old fashioned castle like vibes.

Got another roll of film back that I shot with the new camera. I really like how this one came out because Ektar is know for saturated colors and it really shows here. At first glance I thought there was weird light leak giving that red color in the bottom right. Nope, just the bark of madrones.

A picture of Deception Pass Bridge from the northwest side. The sky is blown out and just bright white from well lit clouds. The bridge and evergreens are quite green. The bottom right corner has some madrone trees and the film has made their red bark really stand out to the point where it looks like a some error with the film.

Technology is funny sometimes. Air Canada app tells me I need to update if I want to use it. Phone is too old to run updated version. Have the outdated app still. Apparently it can still give me notifications that my bag is loaded/unloads etc. I am in Montreal.

Finally picked up this movie again and... Wow advertising is surely something. "From the director of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", a completely different wonderful movie. "It's hard to tell where sex stops and food begins"... Ummm did you watch the movie? What's going on, John?

The DVD box for Ang Lee's 1994 movie, "Eat Drink Man Woman". It shows three dishes on a table as well as the three daughters of the main family in the movie.

The advertising taglines are "From the director of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and also "it's hard to tell where sex stops and food begins. Four stars! Electric!" by John Anderson of New York Newsday.

Got the second roll of film back with the new camera. Fujifilm 400 which I have not used before, and honestly, I rather like it. Fairly vibrant without being overwhelming.

A close up of some flowers and leaves, highlighting the bokeh as the background has a nice fuzzy out of focus look.

Got my first roll of film back from the new camera. The first picture is using the 50 mm f/1.8 stock lens. The other three are using a third party 135 mm f/2.8 lens that took a little bit of getting used to. I am glad to see that the pictures are coming out fairly well. Good to go for Montreal.

Some small plants growing through concrete next to the drain grate in the corner of a parking lot.

Apparently I like fire hydrants as this is the third one I have shot to test film.

Always great to see a warning that there is a buried high pressure petroleum pipeline beneath a municipal/nature park with wetlands.

At first I was annoyed this guy was walking down the path I wanted to shoot, but ultimately, I do like his silhouette at the gateway of the trees to the clearing.

In an old part of where I live, they have little engraved notices of things that happened in that spot in the past. Suddenly, those childhood concerns feel vindicated.

My Samoca camera has broken beyond what I can handle, so I picked up a new, used camera. An Olympus OM-1n which should be a big step up in a number of ways. SLR, can swap lenses, etc). However, having a view finder for focusing now means out of focus pictures are entirely my fault.
