I couldn’t afford Hamburger Helper when I was younger. When I got to where I could, I made it according to the instructions. I soon realized half the meat did just fine and still make it that way.

It’s nine month for cows. And yeah. It’s all about being prey. Babies from prey species are generally born far more advanced so they can get away from things that eat them. Meanwhile, predators often have their eyes closed!

Well, it’s not cows. They’re about nine months. They calve once a year in most agricultural settings. Elephants are indeed the longest gestation of all mammals at 18-22 months.

It’s supportive care (ventilation, fluids, cardiac meds as needed, nutrition if unable to eat for long enough). Body will recover or not. And hemodialysis has the potential to remove the drug.

For those in England & Wales who don’t get them on the NHS: private flu & covid jabs are available from today. I’ve just had both at my local pharmacy. £115 for the pair. Yes, that’s expensive, but if you’re a freelancer & don’t get sick pay it’s probably a lot cheaper than taking time off.

Ventilation, fluids, and nutrition PRN, correct? Until the drugs wear off? (If they wear off?) I’m veterinary. We are sadly much better at this. But back in the day, when we used barbiturates for anesthesia, and one went badly, it was supportive care and sometime outcome was good. Sometimes not.

Oh, sure. Agreed. But you had to drink a ton because it takes a ton to negate stuff. At least on my end. I think this effect is likely minimal for the amount in colored foods? Still better safe than sorry, but probably not as big a deal as made out to be? Coconut allergy might be a bigger concern…

Honest question: dose to cause this? I see this info every Halloween, and that’s good. And obviously people taking large amounts can affect absorption. But the amount used to color food? Is that enough for significant changes? In my species (veterinary), that would be laughable. Need so much more.
