The Llyn Clywedog reservoir in mid-Wales, September 2021 to October 2026. Gives you an idea of what an abnormally dry summer we have had. Not a "normal British summer" as the climate change denying pound shop Trumpians from Reform would have you believe.

Under Zionism, Palestinians of many ethnic groups have no rights in Israel, even if they are born and raised in the region. But members of one ethnic group can claim automatic citizenship, even if they and their families are from the other side of the world. How is this not a racist ideology?

The AfD have an ethnocentric view of citizenship, and call for the "remigration" of other races to their"homelands". Few would dispute that this is a racist ideology. Why is Zionism any different?

Why exactly are British media quoting the genocidal terrorist Netanyahu when it comes to either the RAF Fairford incident or the Fly Dubai flight, where both are under active investigation with no conclusions yet available? Do they quote all terrorist entities or just the State of Israel?

DoorDash spent $1.4M trying to stop Zohran Mamdani from becoming mayor. This week's historic $131.5M enforcement action against DoorDash for underpaying NYC delivery workers shows why. Yet another reminder that the only thing that can beat organized money is organized people.

The conflict between the despotic Saudi regime and the despotic Iranian regime is not our conflict. Andy Burnham's decision to get involved in that conflict between two authoritarian and theocratic regimes is not in the national interest. It is simply more warmongering that makes us less safe.

What's the bet that this village is full of retired people sponging off every benefit they can, from state pensions to NHS-funded hip replacements? Benefits which are paid for by taxes increasingly paid by migrants, because we all know that Farage's foreign donors certainly don't pay any tax.

Also, it's not even don't accept anything. If you accept "suitable alternative employment", you have a four week trial period to see whether it is actually suitable for you. If you decide it is not, you can walk away and take your original redundancy pay entitlement plus the pay for the four weeks.

Vivek Thuppil @vthuppil.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
Yep but that is exactly what a union caseworker is for. To manage these things on behalf of the member. If I were representing a member and HR suggested something like that, I would make it clear on the spot that what is being offered is not suitable alternative employment.

Vivek Thuppil @vthuppil.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
That's right, there is no such thing as a partial redundancy Essentially the employer has to offer either full redundancy pay or offer suitable alternative employment A 0.5 FTE offer is not suitable alternative employment, so the employer must offer full redundancy pay if the member turns it down

Public Service Message for anyone else in this situation. Offering an alternative post at half the hours or a lower grade is NOT suitable alternative employment and does NOT protect the employer from having to pay you redundancy pay. Get in touch with your union! www.acas.org.uk/your-rights-...

An alternative role at two grades down is not suitable alternative employment. Staff choosing to take it because they're desperate & it's a better option compared to redundancy, that's an entirely different thing. But this is not an alternative to redundancy pay. www.acas.org.uk/your-rights-...

It's not legal. You need to offered suitable alternative employment, and a halfing of hours is not that, even if the job title and job description remains the same. The only exception is if you yourself had expressed an interest to reduce your hours.
120
Vivek Thuppil @vthuppil.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
Hi, that is absolutely not true. A halving of hours is definitely not considered suitable alternative employment (unless you have on record expressed an interest in the recent pase of reducing your hours) & you are very much entitled to your redundancy rights. Please escalate to your regional staff!
