Alright after a weekend of steady carving it sadly ended in a bit of a failure 🫠 I failed at preparing the wood well enough for it to print properly, which just shows me I need to work on the basics more. The good thing I drew the design digitally first so I can try again after more practise😅

The Four Wishes: Cheon of Weltanland-Clunky title aside, well, this is a clunky read & the authors are actually Charles Nightingale & Dominique Roche. If sexploitation were a book this would be it. Yet that Boris Vallejo cover makes me wish this book lived up to that awesome art! #booksky #fantasy

Just reviewed the first issue of brand-new Swords Against! Magazine. While the selection of stories is a touch eclectic, and two of the stories weren't to my tastes, on the whole it's a strong start for a magazine centering anti-authority themes and scrappy protagonists.

Kinda! "Fantastic Stories of Imagination" magazine, in this issue from the mid-70's and the following issue, had a two-parter called "When the Idols Walked" by John Jakes; a Brak the Barbarian story featuring kaiju size statues piloted somewhat like mecha.

BUFFO (1982)  Acrylic on Watercolor Board - 32" X 22"   Reading a novel by M. John Harrison always leaves me with the feeling that I've experienced some vivid, chaotic dream full of important but indecipherable symbols and images. 1/3

A man wearing the skull of a horse with antlers clasps the long tube of a telescope tightly to him. One sleeve of his tattered white garments is rolled up past the elbow. Ridges of veins are raised in the tense grips of his hands. Red orbs fill the sockets of the skull while green ribbon twists around the bone until loosely draping over antlers. Filaments sprout, oddly feathery, from the curling rack. On the dingy shelves behind, a small assortment of hardbound books lean with more stacked haphazardly on the long shelf below. Charts tacked to the wall curl with age. Points of light, more like street lamps than stars, gleam in the cracked glass of a many-paned window.
