Most of the time, policy flows downward—decisions made elsewhere, handed to residents, and called "democracy." This time it went the other way. A resident named a harm, the community organized around it, and the city had to catch up. That’s what democracy is supposed to look like.

Under its current billionaire ownership, X has become a vector for hate speech and disinformation that endangers immigrants, people of color, and queer residents. Cambridge shouldn't spend public resources or lend municipal credibility to subsidize a platform that harms the people we serve

Cambridge has one of the strongest sanctuary ordinances in Massachusetts. Our Welcoming Community Ordinance explicitly prohibits Cambridge police from participating in federal immigration enforcement - with very limited exceptions.

Under Trump, ICE's investigative arm (HSI - Homeland Security Investigations) routinely conducts operations under the guise of "criminal investigations" that are actually pretexts for immigration enforcement. This is a documented pattern across sanctuary cities.
