A Korean king ordered a bunch of linguists to come up with a written language to increase literacy due to the difficulty of chinese and they came up with one of the easiest to read languages in existence.

At one level. I'm surprised they haven't yet. At another, I think they prefer the scam of people resubmitting cards as they chase the 10.

Yeah the group stage works because everyone's happy to be there. And it's only 3 games.

nick @vossbrink.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
Like the obvious solution for me would be 6 games (3 home, 3 away) against each team so 18 games total. But then what do you do when a team is eliminated mathematically?

Have said it before on here but with division winners being so bad too it's worth mentioning again that something like 90 wins should be required to be playoff eligible.

nick @vossbrink.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
I'd do a rotation of league alignments (eg one year of traditional, one of geographical, one random draw, repeat) to keep things a little fresh. Round robin WS is interesting. I like it even though such a thing could involve a team winning when it's not playing. How many games would you do?

Both a fundamental misunderstanding of what baseball is as well as what makes playoffs exciting.

Biggest problem with new teams for me is that too many of the existing teams already have deadbeat owners and can't draw fans.

nick @vossbrink.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
I don't buy the talent dilution argument when there are so many international players now. I do however think that market incentives have made teams prioritize cheap disposable players with skill sets optimized for churning until their minor league options run out.

(though I'd definitely mix the leagues each season rather than sticking to the same ones every year)

You could absolutely convince me to accept 4 eight-team leagues, no interleague play, 154-game round robin schedule, 4 pennant winners go to playoffs.

It's telling that men would rather try to invent tech to replace humans' role in caregiving than step up as equal partners in parenting. Telling, that is, in that it shows how financial capitalism and patriarchy work together to dissuade men from doing "unprofitable" labor, like the work of care.
