definitely agree it's subject to how good local stores and the community are. my experience has been the opposite because i'm fortunate to be in a great area with great stores and professors all around.

After several months of trying I finally won my local GLC night with this janky fire deck last night. Some thoughts: + don’t run skeledirge - I just like the pokemon + silent lab isn’t helpful + put more consistency / draw cards in, and maybe one or two more resource recovery (stretchers)

if you’re wondering what my connection to the hobby is these days I’m much more comfortable in a judge / TO role with a bit of casual collecting and playing (ideally GLC) mixed in. it’s the right mix for me when I don’t have the energy or drive to chase Worlds like I did back in the day.
