#SongsOfSeptember I go back and forth on this one a lot but ultimately I think Growing Pains by Sammy Copley fits the best. Aloïs is technically an adult (she’s 21 during the events of False Knight) but she still has A LOT of growing ahead of her.

#SongsofSeptember The song that perfectly captures the overall plot and vibe of False Knight is Mark on You by The Mountain Goats (which is also just a fantastic song on its own). This song feels like it switches between the MC and antagonists POV which I love. youtu.be/B_-caOwzOvk?...

#SongsofSeptember Music influences my writing so much so I’m obligated to do this one. I’m Lilly, and I’m working on a story about a transfem knight who fucks shit up and tries her best to fix it I’m incapable of choosing a favorite song but my fav on FN’s playlist is Metamorphosis by Infinity Song

Currently I’m working on False Knight, a story about a transfem squire trying to fix things after her final quest before being knighted goes horribly wrong. I really love a romantic knight story where they break their vows and then have to recommit and that’s what I’m trying to emulate with this one

I’m so honored to help announce the cover reveal for The Witch of the Wood by @applesncinnamon.bsky.social! It’s a lovely dark fantasy novella that’s both gripping with its pace and heartwarming with its romance ❤️ 🌈📚 GR: www.goodreads.com/book/show/25... SG: app.thestorygraph.com/books/41b400...

The cover of The Witch of the Wood by Alex Larkspur. It features two men in a dark and gloomy forest. Milo stands in front, a man with tan skin and short, dark hair. He’s dressed in a cream tunic and a green cloak around his shoulders. He has a bow and arrows. He is clearly afraid as he stares at his left hand. His fingers are blackened due a curse that is spreading across his hand. Another man, Cam, is turned the other way and holding Milo’s right hand. He’s looking over his shoulder and looking at Milo with concern. His clothes are bright, colorful, and patchwork. The gloom of the forest mutes their color. The trees seem to close in around them.

NEW ART ALERT! Check out this amazing artwork done by my artist friend Aowna! This is the Kingeater, Soldit, transformed into a dragon and destroying a tyrannical kingdom. What's that colorful liquid coming out of his mouth, you ask? Let's just say, many tyrants have colorful blood

Artwork of the Kingeater, Soldit, transformed into a dragon. Painted by Aowna. Soldit is a blue scaled dragon with orange spikes and protrusions, a sun-orange/yellow eye, and sharp teeth. Blood of many colors is coming out of his mouth, representing the many kings he has eaten.
He is standing atop a gothic-architecture castle. Spiked spires are also visible in the foreground.

#SummerOfStories I think False Knight has very similar vibes to A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. It deals a lot with honor, the question of what makes a true knight, and has some dark moments interspersed with lighthearted joy.

Sometimes it takes just a few days, sometimes it might take months, but my writing is always better for it. I find that staring at a blank page and trying to force myself to write almost never works and if I do write something it’s sub-par. So take a break. Let your writing breath. 2/2

#SummerOfStories This maybe isn’t the most sustainable tip but it works for me. Take a break. Step back from the project and try not to think about it at all. Maybe work on a different project, read a book, or engage in a different hobby. Then, when the muses strike, come back to it. 1/2

Hello #WriterShareWednesday! It's not out yet, but The Witch of the Wood will release on October 6th! If you want to read it early, ARC applications are open now! forms.gle/w9nL6aU82Tew...

Over a dark forest:
The Witch of the Wood
- Novella
- MM Fantasy Romance
- Breaking a Curse
- A Spooky Forest
- A Search for a Witch
- Nervous x Confident

There was a witch hiding in the trees of Hatwick Wood. They were a steward of the wood, caring for the alders, maples, and cedar within, watching over the home of the beasts and birds. The witch ensured that villagers never took more than they gave, that they were never ravenous in their consumption of the gifts they were given. This was the witch’s sacred duty, and their magic had flown wild and free as they upheld their oath.
The people who survived on the generosity of Hatwick Wood—every denizen from Farbreak at the south edge to Northpost on the opposite side—respected the witch. Although they had never seen the steward of the wood, stories about the witch had been passed down through the families. Everyone knew the witch was the forest caretaker, and if anything ever went wrong, they needed to be found to mend it. No one knew this better than the Ashtons.
Milo Ashton came from a long line of people who made their living in the forest. His grandfather, and his grandfather’s grandfather, and every generation before that were hunters. It wasn’t work that would make them rich, or elevate them above common folk, but it was good, honest work that would always be needed. The Ashtons had always hunted in Hatwick Wood, respected it, and in turn, the wood gave them a bounty.
That all changed when Hatwick Wood was cursed.

A picture of a young man with tan skin and short dark hair wearing a green cloak and tan shirt. A bow is slung over his shoulder. He looks nervous. Next to him is a box that reads: Milo Ashton - A hunter tasked with breaking the curse on Hatwick Wood. Uncertain, nervous, but determined to do right.
A picture of a young man with shoulder-length dark-brown hair and brown skin wearing colorful clothes. He has a big smile on his face. Next to him is a box that reads: Cambium - An energetic young man who is living in Hatwick Wood. Unaffected by the curse that lingers in the forest. Outgoing, bold, but willing to help where he can.
