It's clear, just from that picture, that the land now called Jordan was stolen from the Syrians, and a global campaign to return it is a human rights necessity. Also, the article states as fact that the land was 'stolen' from the Jews by the Romans, a while before anyone had heard of Arabs...

I've been seeing this coming for a while, but it feels like what's missing is an actually useful Conservative party to push it over the line...

I think they're trying to paint it as being a benefit, so it you get fake people on it they could be collecting Obamacare cheques... Because their base hates it when anyone apart from them gets benefits!

Eight Days in September 1066 - 6. Legacy The events of 1066 are often presented as the moment when England’s Scandinavian past came to an end. In Yorkshire, however, that is far too simple. The defeat of Harald Hardrada at Stamford Bridge ended the last great Scandinavian invasion, but

Have you ever wondered what York looks like from a hot air balloon? Well we can tell you - it looks *chefs kiss*
We are looking at a view of York from the air - lots of tiled roofs surround the gothic stone masterpiece of York Minster. In the distance the city is replaced with open patchwork fields and the Howardian hills in the distance.

They removed it, begrudgingly, 3 days early after fairly intense pressure - both political and in-person - from the Leeds community. I've been to a number of activities at the Minster in the past and would seriously consider whether I'd be willing to go back inside in future.

Latest figures for BN(O) visas - the numbers a dying down quickly, but the next phase is HKers applying for Indefinite Leave to Remain (equivalent-ish to HKPR). If the government doesn't manage to make it near-impossible to qualify first...

vmlinuz @vmlinuz.org · 27/08/2026
I really wouldn't be surprised if they close the BN(O) route soon, given the numbers are petering out - but there's going to be a big bulge of ILR applications coming in the next couple of years. Including from my partner... I'm considering training up as an English tutor to help her friends!

The only advice I can give you, based on my dad's experience a few years ago, is trying to find someone on the medical side who can help - if she's got a care team for whatever her condition is, they may well have experience of applying for blue badges...

One of the most frustrating things is the absolute blurring of the line between people who want peace, and those who want to destroy Israel (and usually destroy the Jews who live there). The blurring means that the former provide a smokescreen for the latter, and both groups seem happy that way.

I agree with this, but I put it differently: anyone who is strongly anti-Muslim or xenophobic will very likely turn out to be antisemitic. It upsets me to see British Jews embrace people like this because they think they're the enemy of our enemies, and/or because they support Israel uncritically.

I wouldn't call myself a cartoonist, but I had the vision and just needed it to be on paper to the best of my ability.
A hand drawn eight panel cartoon. First two panels are a colander sitting frowning on a shelf. Then the colander is frowning straining pasta, then three more panels of frowning sitting on a shelf. Then a big panel where it's projecting a bunch of crescent eclipse shapes and smiling with speech bubbles around saying "Wow! Look! Amazing! Beautiful!" And then one final panel where it's sitting on a shelf smiling.
