The government has published the latest list of non-compliant companies on National Minimum Wage. A handful of these are repeat offenders. Serco underpaid a worker by £4k last year, and over £36k to 374 workers this year. Tesco is on the list for the third time.

A global penalty snapshot of the big four accounting firms. EY has a penalty total of over $321 million and 35 records. Deloitte has a penalty total of over $354 million and 51 records. KPMG has a penalty total of $243 million and 91 records. PwC has a penalty total of $412 million and 53 records.

Kismet Kebabs fined £500k for selling lamb which was in fact a mix of skin, fat, goat, mutton and reclaimed meat product. Last year they were served a notice by HSE for safety failings, following an HSE conviction in 2012 In 2017 they were fined £82k for tax violations

Like @violationtrackeruk.bsky.social says, the £60 million given to the Fair Work Agency is a "shoestring budget". The risk I see it is that without bold action the agency will not gain the necessary legitimacy among the general population to resist attempts to gut it by future governments.

British Gas has been fined £20 million and will pay compensation to customers after forcibly installing 40,000 pre-payment meters. Parent company Centrica has been sanctioned at least 31 times since 2011 for consumer-protection, competition, employment and safety-related offences

Industrial Chemicals Limited has been fined once again for clear health and safety failings that led to employees suffering serious injuries. Since 2011 the firm has been sanctioned 31 times by the HSE, including a £2.5m fine last year for a similar offence
