A chump’s custom painting journey HGUC Dreissen Spartacus Finally done. I replace the old shoulders with those of the MG Hyaku Shiki Crash. They match surprisingly, probably due to the designs came from the same era (Z/ZZ). I forgot which kit the beam effect originally came from though. #gunpla

I used marbling grey, blue gray and black for the armor, darker blue for the saber hilt, gunmetal for the joints, red for the collar and "cape", metallic yellow for the mohawk.

Right side view of the head and torso, I scratch-built the beam saber handle with pla-plate and modified the Dreissen's old bazooka hard point to make a saber holster.

I used Gaianotes Multi Primer Advance on the rubber parts (waist cloth and capes) so the paint can adhere better and not chipping off easily. Also, I need to practice more on my masking technique since the curve patterns on Dragblacker gave me quite a bit of blemishes that need to be touch up.

A tip on using the multi-primer: Adding a drop of normal primer in it when painting can help you see where the primer is. Also, DO NOT touch it to check if it's dry, the stuff is seriously sticky, just wait a day for it to settle before you paint the actual color.

Close up on Dragblacker head. I sanded the dragon's teeth so that they look sharper and less like rabbit teeth. I had to free-style the black triangle marks on the dragon's horns since there isn't any molding for it in Blokees version. I simply cut a long triangle piece of masking tape in haft to cover the black base befor painting it with silver.

Close up of Dragblacker's tail-blade. Luckily, there isn't a Ryuki symbol on the hilt so I don't have to worry about Dragblacker bearing its counterpart's emblem.

I also modified the Age-Fx cannon to be able to use PG size beam, further emphasizing the out-of-placeness of this. Side note, people often forget for some reason this but AEUG have Zeon soldiers/citizens on their side as well. So a "Zeon Alive!!!" slogan on a AEUG mobile suit is perfectly normal.

A chump's custom-painting journey. HG GM III Anomaly Custom The "setting" here is that this is a GM III using technologies that shouldn't exists in UC timeline, hence "Anomaly". The Beam Master gives us all the old GM III parts, which is an "anomaly" given how stingy Bandai usually is. #gunpla

A chump's custom-painting journey. HGUC GM Cannon II Hot Head I used the spare shield from MG Hazel to beef up this one's defense and the rifle from HG GM Beam Master. I think this turns out fine even if the left arm joint cracked due to the use of old ABS plastic. Looks silly though. #gunpla

If you were a DragonBall fan in the 90’s, you’ll recognize this image as one of the few scanned images online at the time. It was a really low quality scan because of the technology at the time, but I recently bought this art (it’s from a pencil board) so I can do a high-res scan.

Also, the "setting" is that when space prirate stole the Age 1 Glansa, the right eye got damaged so they replaced it with Vagan tech. They also re-applied the EFF logos after repainting the gundam only to cross them out, just to spite the EFF. They're pirates, they get to be a little extra.

The most fun part of this project is scratch-building the part to connect the lance with the shield from the option part set 11. I intended to have the connector separable but consider the weight of the shield, I glued them all along with the hand. This knight ain't gonna let go of his lance, ever.

Custom painted Gyancelot's shield-lance combo. If you're wondering what V28 means, it's the same as the R35 in Gouf R35.
