A chump’s custom painting journey HGUC Dreissen Spartacus Finally done. I replace the old shoulders with those of the MG Hyaku Shiki Crash. They match surprisingly, probably due to the designs came from the same era (Z/ZZ). I forgot which kit the beam effect originally came from though. #gunpla

I used marbling grey, blue gray and black for the armor, darker blue for the saber hilt, gunmetal for the joints, red for the collar and "cape", metallic yellow for the mohawk.

Left side view of same head and torso. I stacked two blades from its original Tri-Blades to make to "mohawk". I also cut off and replaced the Dreissen's old round boosters with the waist thruster of Gundam Lfrith Thorn to simulate the feel of it having a cape

Right side view of the head and torso, I scratch-built the beam saber handle with pla-plate and modified the Dreissen's old bazooka hard point to make a saber holster.

A chump's custom-painting journey. HG GM III Anomaly Custom The "setting" here is that this is a GM III using technologies that shouldn't exists in UC timeline, hence "Anomaly". The Beam Master gives us all the old GM III parts, which is an "anomaly" given how stingy Bandai usually is. #gunpla

A chump's custom-painting journey. HGUC GM Cannon II Hot Head I used the spare shield from MG Hazel to beef up this one's defense and the rifle from HG GM Beam Master. I think this turns out fine even if the left arm joint cracked due to the use of old ABS plastic. Looks silly though. #gunpla

If you were a DragonBall fan in the 90’s, you’ll recognize this image as one of the few scanned images online at the time. It was a really low quality scan because of the technology at the time, but I recently bought this art (it’s from a pencil board) so I can do a high-res scan.

A chump's custom-painting journey. HGAGE Gundam Age 1 Full Glansa (WIP) Done with the main body for now. I tested the frame with metallic red to see how it will look on my eventual Destiny Spec II (I have to look for other options). Also, this one is a pirate because why not. #gunpla

Custom painted HG Age 1 neutral pose. I could've not bother with the "A" in the chest since it'll get covered anyways but I couldn't help myself.

Custom painted Age 1 back view. The back pack and the "spoiler" are of different color from the rest of the body so that it'll blend well with the additional Glansa armor later.

A chump's custom-painting journey. HGBF - Gyancelot Type V28 The steel paint from Sunin7 is quite durable, I haven't experience any chipping yet. In higndsight, using black/white caution markings on steel color is a bad idea. I should've bought the orange ones to use for this instead #gunpla

A chump's custom-painting journey. HGBF - Gyancelot (WIP) Found this brand called Sunin7, their selection of metallic paint is quite diverse so I gave them a try. The coverage is quite good, almost the level of Gaianotes. I'm also about to commit sacrilege: giving Gyan(celot) dual-eyes. #gunpla

I tried to have two tone of steel colors but the camera can't pick up the difrences, which is a shame.

My first attemp at gradient with the beam mantles. Honestly not that noticable except at the very end of the mantles.

Zeon purist look away, since this Gyan(celot) is about to have more than one eye.

A chump's custom-painting journey. HGUC - Doven Wolf - Fullmetal Howl Luckily, the head part replacement doesn't look too bad since most of the back of the head is obscured by the back pack. #gunpla

I use masking to make the symbol on the chest since I don't have resources to make custom decals. It looks a bit rough but I'm fine with it (for now).

The INCOMs ended up stuck inside their holster since I painted them too thick and don't want to scratch the paint.

Handling the seam line on the beam riffle is a pain, mostly because of all the curves and hard to sand geometry. I ended up turning the seam of the barrel into a panel line while erasing the seam on the gun body.

A chump's custom-painting journey. HGBF Mega-Shiki - Southern Gallant I did not put any decal on this built for reasons explain in the alt-text below (definitely not because I'm lazy or Lunar New Year's house chores took the majority of my time). #gunpla

I achieved the dark red/maroon color by suing Oxidized Gold (basically Mr.Color Blue Gold "gone bad") and Super Italian Red (or what I like to call: SUPPAA ITALIAN REDDO). It worked like a charm.

A chump's custom-painting journey. HGBF Mega-Shiki (WIP) I started this back in 2018 and boy do I want to punch my past self for my incompetence (not like I'm that much better now though). I tried "upgrading" the elbow to double joint and while it works, I did not account for painting them.

I made the rookie mistake of forgeting the polycapa when erasing the seam lines on the lower arms. I had to pry them apart again and then using putty to fill in the mess

I don't like the bulky look of the Mega Ride Launcher so I only use the booster and the wing binders. Time will tell if this is a mistake or not

I decided to keep the pegs on the wing binder holding joint for the off chance I get another Mega-Shiki and can loot another pair of wing binders.
