What kills me is that you know there are a ton of developers out there who could make “Space Corridor” an absolutely amazing game.

I’m sure a lot of you have experienced this, but it is super weird to listen to a podcast and hear the guest refer to a conversation you had with them like two years ago.

Jacob Geller is no longer a part of MinnMax. He won't be on content moving forward and we won't be publicly airing this week's episode of The MinnMax Show. We're in shock and deeply hurt. Thank you for your patience during this sensitive time.

Remember kids, visit your local library to relive the days of going to the video store and coming home with a game or movie that completely blows your mind!

This looks incredible. I’m not much of a PC gamer, but I’m hoping this makes it to the Switch and/or Switch2 someday.

Look, I’m one of the last ones banging the drum for FM radio, but I don’t think they’re playing a lot of Ella Langley on alternative stations. I’ve never heard it. The monoculture isn’t just dead, it was nuked from orbit (zoomers, ask your parents what piece of pop culture that refers to).

“as fussy as reminding a lady to wear pantyhose or a gentleman to ask before lighting a cigarette?” So I guess the Washington Post has a time traveler on staff. Isn’t there something more important they should be doing?

Starting today, we're piloting Japanese magazines in our digital archive! We've spent the last few months upgrading our library infrastructure to support Japanese-language material, starting with the magazine Neo Geo Freak. Read the full blog post for more info: gamehistory.org/5k-magazines/

A two-page spread from Neo Geo Freak featuring Nakoruru from the game Samurai Shodown. All text is accurately highlighted on the page, including vertical writing being mapped vertically.

I’m convinced that when Microsoft closes down Xbox (probably sometime in the next five years), they’re going to sell at least a small chunk of it to Nintendo. They could buy Doom. Or maybe all of Activision if they want. Or they finally buy Rare. Anything goes! Let’s get nuts!

So when do all of these companies throw in the towel on streaming as something that’s just not profitable? It has to be soon, right? (At the very least, I expect streamers to dial way back on offering new movies just a few months after their theatrical run. DVD is making a comeback!)

The thing with the Polygon article is that it’s doing an Oscars-style prediction thing solely for The Game Awards. And the games that are nominated for TGAs are different than games nominated for DICE or GDC or BAFTA. And those are different from GOTY awards at individual publications.

Sony is making the legal argument that it’s IMPOSSIBLE to own digital files. So if that’s true, shouldn’t they not be allowed to even sell a license? And, of course, there are storefronts that will sell you a digital file. Making that part moot. Digital sales are about to get real weird real fast.

This is not really a US thing. At some point in the last few years, “lost media” came to become synonymous with “out of print”. Is it dumb? Oh yes. Do I kind of get the sentiment behind it? Also yes.

Bruce Campbell deserves his retirement, but everyone looking for more “funny Evil Dead” should be clamoring for the further adventures of Kelly and Pablo… which was setup during the last season of Ash vs Evil Dead! I know plenty of dentists, I’d be willing to do it!

What a good idea for a book. There has been so much written about the connection between FPSs and the military out there. Having it all in one place will really show just how weird that connection is. Younger folks probably have no idea how weird America’s Army actually was!

What I don’t get about this is that physical carts/discs in stores made video games a very visible part of everyday life. The Toys R Us wall was iconic for a whole generation of kids. And even now, a GameStop in every town promotes the very existence of video games to everybody on a daily basis.

I can kind of see the logic in doing something like this, but making it Netflix-exclusive for just *SIX HOURS* is completely ridiculous.
