My mother was born 2 years after my grandparents lost their youngest child to the measles and pneumonia. My parents ensured that all 5 of us were vaccinated as each new vaccine became available. My parents did everything possible to ensure we stayed healthy. How have we gone backwards?

This hits home for me. I’m both a military daughter and a military spouse. My dad was stationed in Bangkok and we depended on the Stars and Stripes for news from home. My husband was stationed in England and Guam and our kids loved reading the Stars and Stripes. Trump can’t handle independent media.

My brother was born in 1957. He was diagnosed with an intellectual disability when he was 3. My parents were advised to institutionalize him. They refused and advocated for him to receive services including an education. He learned to read, worked for Goodwill and had many friends. We can’t go back.
