Holy fucking shit, Japan made a game show out of the dumb Wii bowling mini game I’m moving to this country.
Hotel TV screen playing a Japanese game show with a D20 being rolled across a 4-5 lane wide bowling lane, with dozens and dozens of pins set out randomly.A bowling lane where partway down the lane is two skinny bridges, with a ball traveling down one.

Exploring Hakone.
A red train is nestled beneath a structural arch/canopy, with a row of low hedges obscuring the wheels and a single street light facing the camera, centered directly between to rail cars.A single hip-high gate leads to an enormous swath of green trees and forest on the right. To the left of the gate is a vine-covered wall with a large, dirty white gas tank and several traffic cones.A beat up, yellowed Sengoku bus sign out of focus on the left, with layered hills of green on the right, volcano smoke pouring from one hill with an electrical pole obscuring the view.A low, wide shot of an empty road curving the left around tall green greets, and a rusted three-layered railing following the bend between the road and sidewalk.

Don’t wanna get cancelled buuut Hakone is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been.
A series of beige arches cover a train station under steep and dense green tree line, with several lanes of traffic separating from three low rise buildings in front of another hill/mountain range.A large hotel-esque structure sits on top of a sheer drop off hill covered with thick trees, and red pedestrian bridge emerging over a river with 4 (four!) tiny rapid falls meeting walk up apartments on the other side, and mist covered mountains nestled behind the bridge.

I think this restaurant wants me to get my car drunk?
A clip-art laminated sign with Japanese language on it, and a man and woman nothing saying no to alcohol, and a cute pink anthropomorphized car is sleepily smiling and swerving with beer and hearts floating around.

You might enjoy Boots Riley going into detail about lenses and cinematography here. I'm not even a film buff but I found it fascinating! He has such passion for the art form. Also I Love Boosters was incredible

Exploring Osaka.
A wide angle shot of mostly red and white neon lights against a dark night sky, hanging above clear and opaque umbrellas.A vertical shot of the first three stories and top floor of Osaka Castle partially obscured on the bottom left and top right by out of focus, draped red plastic sheets. From behind the Osaka Sun tower at the Expo ‘70 park (the tower is less a building and more a giant concrete puppet with a metal face and outstretched arms), with a wisp of iridescent cloud leaking out from the right arm like radioactive smoke. The side of a Red Bull vending machine tucked against rusting stair handrail, where white tiled stairs lead down to a vacant lot, with overgrown plants and large leaves occupying every inch.

Tried to buy Resident Evil 30th anniversary things today since that series carried me through being sick and it was single-use green herb tea or elaborate enormous statue of Grace. Pretty lame!

Exploring Kyoto.
From beneath an older wooden bridge crossing across a river, a modern tower with jutting sections lights up.Various shades of vermillion beams descend and rise above the heads of people passing through dozens of gates.A very old stone Japanese tiger with bits worn and chipped away, and lichen infecting his back, spotted across his face, sits with a bright red bib wrapped around his next.An izakaya with clean, black vertical panels and iron cages bubbling out from the windows, reflect warm orange lights neatly placed along the perimeter, with a traditional Japanese sign in the foreground and the background humming with modern nightlife.

Kyoto being very kind to jet laggards who show up early to tour.
An empty side street in Kyoto with most windows shut, just before opening.Path between Kiyomizu-dera shrine and Ninenzaka tower with traditional Japanese buildings (and a Starbucks) with only three people walking through. By 11 this same path has hundreds/thousands of people.Extra wide angle on a path through a bamboo forest looking up, with the tail end of a small tour group passing by.Entrance area of the Ryozen Kannon temple, facing a 5-6 story zodiac Buddhist statue, with nearly no one around.

Food been good! … too good?
Two thicc af soufflé pancakes with a dusting of icing sugar, same plate across the table that a woman in a Toronto Tempo is about to pour maple syrup over Three plates of sushi: two tempura crab legs with a slice of lemon, two GORGEOUS fatty blue fin sashimi on another, and the third is six rolls of yellow tail tuna and ginger.A bento box on a bullet train with two different meats on rice, and 8 other items I honestly couldn’t account for - except for a few pieces of chicken that were flame charredOne plate of Kyoto tofu with amazing sauce and Kyoto green onion, and a second plate of smoked duck from an izakaya.

I could spend a month or two wandering the side streets of Tokyo. Gorgeous homes that effortlessly accommodate their space. Next to none fit a neighborhood character all the while make the neighborhood feel interesting and unique!
What appears to be a gorgeous single family home with the first two floors a dark blue, and the majority of windows (including the front door) circle shaped, with only a few feet between apartment buildings on either side.A brutalist-inspired modern apartment building on the corner of a street, next to a more classic, yellowed sandstone apartment building on the right, and a twice as tall, balcony focused apartment on the left.Three low-rise apartment buildings next to each other (all touching). First is a classic brown box with no outdoor space, next is a greenish turquoise with a gently receding slope with Juliet balcony’s, finally massive balconies with commercial ground level.A lone, eight-story

I have questions for the person who cut our pizza.
I’m sorry I can’t accurately describe the image. If you rely on alt text, please understand our circular pizza (still in the box) was cut into rhombus pieces. Two pizza slices on a plate, each with four distinct edges, but one at least twice the size of the other.
