Probably a highlight as a Londoner getting invited to ‘The Keys’, the Yeoman Warders’ pub inside the Tower of London’s walls. It’s not open to the public and is strictly by invitation only. We were allowed to take pictures, but nothing can capture the special atmosphere. Plus £4 for a Guinness!

Meanwhile. This evening I have been invited to witness the Ceremony of the Keys at the Tower of London (which includes a visit to the ‘Beefeaters’ Bar’, courtesy of my little brother). Photography and filming not permitted throughout, but it all sounds very exciting! www.hrp.org.uk/tower-of-lon...

At Whitechapel, up in the roof space; a small sign, nailed to one of the beams by a Master Bellfounder... 'Nothing is impossible for the man who does not have to do it himself'. I've long forgotten the story, but it's still an object from the foundry that remains in my memory!

One of the beautiful parallels I drew from visits to both foundries is the essence of storytelling prompted by simple objects about the shop. At Taylor’s, Anthony was keen to tell us how the cigarette tins that housed the various foundry type stamps had him hunting for more when at car boot sales.

FWIW: My visit was not a result of a @tomscott.com video everyone has recently told me about (respectfully, I haven’t seen it!), but more a curiosity to see who is still making bells in this country after my visit to the Whitechapel Bell Foundry almost ten years ago (before they ceased operations) 🔔

Visited the Taylor’s Bellfoundry in Loughborough over the weekend and met a Master Bellfounder. As you do. Most interesting to see typesetting in Tamil, as well as a set of bells being recast for a church in Rickmansworth.

I’ve always been rather frank in the hope that someone who feels alone with it knows they’re not the only one. It’s funny how creativity is linked so much to mood in a lot of ways. Lately, I’ve felt like the picture-taking has been aimless and lost.

It’s hard to keep going when it feels like you’re on shifting sands. It’s hard to stay creative too when you’re attempting to pour from an empty cup. But I’ve a few projects in the works to share at some point. For now, it’s about resting and recovering somehow. 3/Fin.

I’m in the middle of a separation/divorce (which is thankfully amicable), but I have had to move home recently which has been a massive change as you’d expect, whilst also having to manage ADHD burnout/general decline in my overall physical and mental health, coupled with a change of medication. 2/~

I've said it before: I genuinely consider it a moral imperative that people my age and up bang the drum about what the Internet used to be so those younger know that there's nothing inherent about what it is now. The Internet doesn't have to be this; its culture can and has belonged to people.

So much of civilisation depends on people playing by the rules. Then people discover that, if they don't play by the rules, nothing happens! The sanctions most of us think are there actually aren't. A system based on people being good chaps has no response when they stop being good chaps.
