I'd like to know more about this. I've been considering switching off Rewired in favor of the modern UnityInput system, but if it has issues with third-party controllers that's a dealbreaker for me.

I don't want to get into a moba, and the game itself doesn't really look like fun to me. but god i wish there were any fighting games doing narrative work at this level. there's so much happening! they give you so many reasons to care about all the characters!

real!! been playing ninja gaiden black and yeah, that game is good in a don't-make-em-like-this-anymore sense, but it's also poorly written in a way that i'm so glad we've moved beyond. we have to acknowledge what we've gained in the past 20 years along with the things we've lost!

you see this everywhere with claude shit. it's not very good at making things that work, but it makes *enough* of a thing that people blast it all over socials. recomps that barely load past the title screen, mods stable enough for a single twitter clip, etc. really fucking depressing!!!

people are so credulous about these things, too. claude can't magically fix SF4's animation-based hitboxes - so either this ember mod redid the entire guts of the game somehow, or it still has determinism issues that make rollback unreliable.

took a 12 hour train ride earlier this year & spent much of it playing MVC2 (via emudeck but the collection on steam also works). it's a very pleasant low-mental-energy game in singleplayer. half the cast starts locked so you get new chars to try every few arcade runs. lots of things to fidget with.

yeah, this is something "sustainable" indies almost never interrogate. being a contractor fucking sucks! it's more stable than pure freelance but you don't get benefits or actual job security. you end up doing the same labor as an employee for less compensation & with zero mobility.

yeah my exception to this whole thread is that if a game lets me do an izuna drop i will suspend basically all my critiques of its mechanics and clap like a seal

god help me there is no such thing as a "real" CAG, and even if there was a game being a "real" CAG wouldn't make it good. if you review a combat system please at least *try* to analyze it beyond surface-level signifiers.

this happens all the time. i pay for a bitbucket subscription and that price has gotten jacked up due to the new "AI features." i paid for a permanent license for substance painter 2018 and that got bought by adobe and now i'm not allowed to redownload the program.

it's also that it's free as in freedom, actually. blender being open-source / nonprofit means there's no risk of it being bought out by adobe or autodesk & squeezed dry or ruined with bullshit AI integrations.

this is a good article that i have one objection to: i use blender because it is free. autodesk maya starts at $168 per month. that software could suck my dick every time i booted it up and it would still not be worth that price.

The colors look modern because they are! they were recolored in the early 2000s for the Marvel Masterworks collections. it's an unfortunate nerd remaster thing, though the art itself still shines imo (the first image was not recolored, kirby just loved to throw collage spreads at you occasionally)

yeah i get it, kirby can be a little too stylized for me too sometimes. some of his work on FF is hit or miss (early sub mariner is frequently a miss), but when it hits it hits so hard. basically everything related to space in these issues is peak.

yeah... hickman run has moments but it's aged poorly in some really noticeable ways. if you want more FF, the early issues by lee and kirby are really interesting imo. uneven in some ways (the family dynamic is not there yet) but also still some of the greatest sci-fi adventure comics ever written.
