I've been using Puma as my #ruby/#rails webserver for years. Over a decade probably? Today I landed a tiiiiiny little PR* to it. That felt nice. --- * - a missing `require` in a very specific uncommon use case :)

Why do video creators love their mic audio clipping in the red so much? You don't have to yell. You have a public adress system. Often in a controlled contained environment. Like, people are intentionally sounding a drive-thru speaker.

How do we feel about the #Homebrew install #Ruby? formulae.brew.sh/formula/ruby It's one of the recommended ways on the Ruby site: www.ruby-lang.org/en/documenta... I'm asking for possible recomendation to others. I still use and love ruby-install + chruby.

I'm surprised to see that in #Ruby this is a syntax error: ❌ as a one-liner: foo = :x case foo in :x then :abc end # ✅ as a multi-liner case foo in :x then :abc end

Idea for (return/output) type annotation on #Ruby methods: magic comment on "end" of `def` ```ruby def foo(bar) # -> User @baz end def foo(bar) = @baz # -> User ``` 1. Valid Ruby today 2. NOT `=>` convention we use for "executed result" 3. Optional&checkable 4. Readable as dev docs 5. Pretty!

A classic “two things can be true at the same time” situation: 1. Plaintext formats are a great idea! We should (still) lean into them over binary/proprietary/non-standard ones! 2. “Write players for AI” can directly fuck off

you can literally just wear a mask, though. like three years ago some asshat tried to rip mine off and i pushed them into traffic, they came back yelling in my face and i did it again. then they stopped because there were more important things going on in their life, like avoiding that truck.

My brain imagines disparate shows/movies as the same timeline canon if they have the same actor. Like Brad from Mythic Quest as Abed's career after his time at Community college www.youtube.com/watch?v=SeGaRXve5qQ (or Malcolm in the Middle as post-Breaking Bad witsec)

The squawky Scrub Jay is my house sigil

A card with an illustration of a blue and white bird, with black beak. The text above it reads: I am aware I have committed the naturalist's sin of stereotyping the towhee as jolly and the Scrub Jay as conniving. Science would require me to be objective and to not let personal bias obstruct more accurate observations. Thank God I am not a scientist.
