I hope whatever civil engineering firm lands this RFP is haunted at night by visions of the cyclists they'll be killing. I hope their iron ring they were given at graduation when they took an oath to the public starts to itch and weigh on their finger like an anchor.

What is certain, however, is that a vast sum of our money will be wasted, countless Torontonians will find themselves profoundly inconvenienced for extended periods, and, eventually, a cyclist will get struck by a car. But at least the congestion will be worse.

So there is a fake Comic Fury app in the google play store (see pictured). Don't download this, it's not real. The real Comic Fury site is not owned by the developer and there are no microtransactions. Please help Kyo, the real creator and owner of Comic Fury, by reporting its ass.

FYI, from Toocheke. They added a Tapas migration feature.

A screenshot of an email that says

Import Your Tapas.io Comics Into WordPress
You may have seen the news about Tapas shutting down. If you or anyone you know publish there, you’re probably wondering what happens to all of your comics and years of work.

We’ve just added a new import feature to Toocheke Companion (available in version 2.23+) that can move an entire Tapas series into WordPress for you — including episodes, images, thumbnails, and original publish dates.

It keeps everything in order, so you don’t have to manually copy and paste hundreds of pages.

You know, I'm seeing a lot of blame?? placed on webcomic creators for using Tapas instead of their own hosting site, and I'm just saying like...can we not? Small artist v corporation, guess which one always wins Anyway, let's work on options for READERS to build their own reading list, maybe

There's a reason us olds always say to have your own webcomic site and only mirror on hosting sites for extra reach. But I really feel for people whose comics found their audience, or their income, on Tapas. You don't get to choose where your work resonates. Fewer options=bad. Webtoon monopoly=bad.

My further thoughts on the whole convention thing: I think when shows have a specific theme for their event (eg one specific fandom, only books, only pins/patches, etc) showrunners should not be afraid to lay down rules for table displays, and to enforce those rules during the show itself.

I am definitely also guilty of participating in the display arms race; I may have acquired my large print wall display with shows like Fan Expo in mind, but once I have it in hand, it becomes easy to reach for everywhere else, especially because I know it works to make sales... ......of prints.

The niche culture has slowly dissipated because of this and they know for a fact its hard to make money if they're laser focused on a single subculture. Its why a lot of cons have marketed themselves as events for influencers. Its why you see 3D printed AI booths at indie comic events now.

I was actually talking with a friend about how a lot of conventions nowadays have all started to become and feel the exact same and its primarily because the organizers have started to care less about the initial theme surrounding the event and cared more about headcount.

lrt a lot of comics shows, indie or not, have basically become pop culture cons. zine fests seem like the only place to sell zines/short comics, & ofc you're not going to find many pub'd comic artists at a zine fest bc that's not what they're for. the "comic" in comic cons has been so squeezed out

It's so true... so long as the trend is towards bigger and flashier displays, comic artists without the time/energy/resources to invest in that kind of display will just get more and more left behind... even at shows that are supposed to be celebrating them! It's rough out there.
