Yess exactly! My thinking was a vampire bat that de-evolved flight and became more of a direct ambush predator

In 1932, several sheep were found dead and exsanguinated in Arizona. Their blood was drained through three unexplained punctures. A photograph of the predator was taken by a park ranger. Officially explained as a mangy dog, some yet claim it is an image of the Chupacabras.
A dead bighorn sheep lying on dried grass. Hunched on top of it, an animal, appearing like a sort of flightless bat with doglike limbs, is drinking its blood.

How do we confirm the deleted DA post is the image we're looking for? By searching the title (Do opanowania szalenstwa by Narva), I find a 2011 tumblr repost that directly credits her! catblack.tumblr.com/post/2909201... So we found it! Go give the author of this classic creepy image some love! <3

Sadly her DA being inactive since 2016, but it links to her instagram, which appears to be her main social media these days: www.instagram.com/sonia.firlej/ And the good news is her photography is still fantastic (go give it a look!) But we're still missing one piece of evidence!

Same for her website, which appeared in old versions of her devianart profile. It doesn't exist anymore and the internet archive snapshots haven't saved this specific image: web.archive.org/web/20180419...

This leads me to the deviantart profile, which still exists: www.deviantart.com/narva/ This appears to be a Polish photographer called Sonia Firlej, mostly working in black and white. The style definitely matches our image, but this specific one appears to be deleted from her archive.

Thankfully, there is a saved snapshot of the post on the internet archive, but unfortunately the image itself was not archived: web.archive.org/web/20150910... But here we find our first piece of evidence. A comment directly links this post to SCP-1875:

I'm just curious if you've ever seen this - www.scp-wiki.net/scp-1875
It uses your image, and scared the shit out of me! :D

The SCP is from 2012, and since most reverse search results are related to the SCP and its later use as an uncredited "creepy online image", we need to limit our search to results before 2012. After some digging using TinEye, I found this deleted DeviantArt post: narva.deviantart.com/art/Do-opano...

First, this image gained online notoriety through its use in SCP-1875 (scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-1875). That said, as of today the article has a different (though similar) image. This implies the photo was used without permission, and it's possible the author contacted the SCP writer to remove it.

After a bit of detective work, I've identified the author of this image! This was created in 2010 by Polish photographer Sonia Firlej. You can find her more recent work here: www.instagram.com/sonia.firlej/ And follow the thread to see how I found her!

Ah thanks! I love doing internet detective work! It makes me a bit sad to see how some "creepy images" online deliberately get stripped of their authorship to add to their mystique. And the authors of some pretty legendary images just get lost to time... This motivates me to look for them hahaha

Me alegra haberla encontrado

Ah!

Aunque el primer comentario dice: "I'm just curious if you've ever seen this - www.scp-wiki.net/scp-1875 It uses your image, and scared the shit out of me! :D"

Vale!!!

The Pesadiellu is one of many frightening beings said to cause nightmares. This creature is said to press down on its victims chest, suffocating them in their sleep.
A man sleeps while a strange creature floats atop him, pressing his hands deep into the mans chest. The creature has a human skull for a head, rows of horns down its back, monkeys feet, and wears a flower crown. Surrounding the creature are small ghosts, fairies playing bagpipes (specifically the Gaita Asturiana), little winged serpents (Cuelebre), and sea bunnies. The image is captioned: "The pesadiellu stood atop its victim and pressed 'til their breath was gone"

"Architectural neoplasm" is a phenomenon where buildings, without apparent cause, start spreading outwards uncontrollably. If the growth is not quickly excised, it destroys the surrounding environment. While initially rare, this is starting to happen frequently to data center construction projects.
A green and serene valley is being overtaken by a gigantic, nearly organic looking building. It has flat ceilings and rows of ventilators like those of data centers, and it juts out at strange angles to cover the land around it. The terrain below it is becoming dry and barren.
