The divide between WW’s editorial team and their comments section grows ever narrower.

I’ve followed her online for years and find this person they describe unrecognizable. Seems to me there’s a whole lot of insecurity and projecting going on here.

My take: Everyone's hoping for the best on that day. Whatever happens next, we'll do what we can to make things better. But people might need a minute to process and recuperate. Of course, I could be projecting.

Really, BlueSky needs an editing button already. How I cringe when I use the same word twice in one post!

The 2nd c. 'Interpretation of Dreams' by soothsayer Artemidorus discusses tyromancy- divination by cheese. Its holes, moulds, shape & patterns were seen as signs of future events. A 17th c. Eng version warns to dream of cheese with cake will "signifie deceit & treason by a Welshman" #WyrdWednesday
While there's no real evidence of Wallace and Gromit's view of tyromancy, 17th century preachers were deeply unhappy about any use of the 'dark arts' and seemed particularly vexed by the link between cheese & sleep, castigating those describing cheese fuelled visions with the biblical phrase: "filthy dreamers"

OMG, yes! Cheese and pickle, cucumber, salmon … I remember eating a dry chicken sandwich (I’m not anti-mayo, but it was so good) across from one of Virginia Woolf’s flats in Bloomsbury and thought: “If it were now to die,/ ‘Twere now to be most happy.” Sigh. 🇬🇧

The cat curled up on my side of the bed. She moves when I sit down; I place my hand on the cat shaped hollow in the duvet, feeling the warmth dissipate - a unit of time that feels like it should have a name.

two observations: 1. there are clearly two voting blocs. 2. the progressives compromise more often than the mods / conservatives, as evidenced by the darker gradient shading in the upper right corner quadrant

CLARISSA (Arie & Chuko Esiri 2026) Evocative, visually sumptuous spin on Woolf’s MRS DALLOWAY set in modern-day Nigeria w/ flashbacks to 30 years prior. All the main actors sparkle here, particularly Sophie Okonedo, who seems to communicate so much through her facial expressions alone. #FilmSky #LFF

I do now, thanks! But 20+ years ago that was a lot harder. I think I’d like my Midsomer Murders death to be in a vat of PG Tips.

I remember getting on a train there and asking for tea and it was PG Tips and I could’ve wept on the spot. Like it’s just there, for the asking? I don’t have to go to a specialist tea shop or order it online? It’s just, like, NORMAL?! What is this magical place?! 🇬🇧

Well, I don’t get the fondness for darts. And I’m definitely not on board for the baked beans stuff. But otherwise, I miss every single thing. List of things I love (contd): Welsh rarebit, a great cheddar, that feeling of rounding a corner & there’s Thomas Hardy’s house or William Blake’s grave …

I can’t travel much anymore bc of health issues, but sometimes I ache so much for London. I miss the theater, the bookstores, the sandwiches, the rabbit warren streets, the extravagant layers of history contained within a block, *real* tea available anywhere for the asking. Everything. All of it.

I read the wiki synopsis (I’m not great with horror-ish movies) and wow, it really says something about what the war was doing to sons/brothers/husbands and how they appeared to loved ones upon their return.

It's #MaestroMonday, which I just made up, where I spotlight a song from Angelo Badalamenti's huge non-Peaks/Lynch discography. Today's track kicked off this whole deep dive: "I Hold No Grudge," from Nina Simone's High Priestess of Soul (1967). Written by Angelo (as "Andy Badale") & John Clifford.

Bally Bagayoko putting his body on the line for student protestors in France, Chicago’s mayor defending his stance to hold corporations accountable and fight for the working class. These are badass leaders, Mamdani is not the only one. We can ask for and expect more.
Photo of the mayor shielding student protestors. He is yelling at the riot police, his arms in front of the kids. The kids are standing behind him, some tearfully. One wears a spiderman mask.

I can’t remember which Blueskyer remined me that staircases are liminal, like bridges and crossroads, and therefore favourable for hauntings. There are many #haunted examples – such as the one where the famous Brown Lady of Raynham, #Norfolk, was maybe photographed in the 1930s. [More #SpookySunday

I’m glad they’re doing this. This reminds me of when the Windsor art group Broken City Lab would project messages on the Windsor skyline aimed at Detroit, such as “Do you accept our friend request?” That felt lighthearted and playful, whereas this is such a different moment.
